ESPEEN recieved news that Arizona Outlaws starting DT has requested a position change. This is news for many reasons. 1. It was the team that requested the position change. Usually when a player changes positions its because the teams believes that the player would either be better in a different position, or one of the positions is injury riddled, and rather than make a big trade, or pay random free agents who probably wouldnt play better than the coaches 5 year old son. 2. it never seemed that Asipi didnt enjoy playing as a DT. He always seemed to love being the starter and he also was known as the #1 DT, with no reason to believe he would have to be benched or traded away. He also signed a contract giving him the minimum deal for the next 3 years. If he didnt want to be a DT you would think he would ask for more money instead of less. Add in the fact he told the GM to give him the contract and this is a weird situation.
If Asipi wanted to change positions you would think he would want to do it after his rookie season. He had a pretty bad rookie season, and didnt seem to be active. But to do it after having a successful season 2, in which you can argue it was either 3rd or 4th best in the league, it just doesnt make sense. Is he not having fun? Is there perhaps an injury stopping him from being the best that he believes he can play better at OL with. Speaking of OL that is where Arbin Asipi is asking to be moved to. The outlaws defense is elite, so even with Asipi gone they should still easily be the best defense in the league by a mile, but the outlaws Oline has never really been their strong point. With Pat Pancake, as well as the returning best Oline player in the league, Tim Pest. The outlaws Oline will be stronger, but still probably the weakest place on the team. If Asipi were to move there, the Outlaws may become even better. Of course this is only if Arbin is any good, but there is no reason to believe he wouldnt be able to dominate.
Replacing Asipi at DT would be Big Bot. Big Bot was acquired by the Outlaws in a trade with the Colorado Yeti which netted the Outlaws Phillip Carter, but required them giving away Vash Erikson, and Mayran Jackson. After getting big bot though, the Outlaws sent him down to the DSFL, and everyone was sure he would stay there for one season. Now though, Big Bot would have to rejoin the big boys, and not many are sure whether he could do it. Some sources that ESPEEN have talked to, who are from opposing NSFL executives, say that they're not sure Big Bot could handle it. "Big Bot hasnt played in the NSFL since season 2, and now he's beating up nobodies in the DSFL. Theres no way he comes back up and dominates. It would be better is Asipi just stays put and waits until season 4 to change positions." This was repeated by a few of the other sources. One NSFL GM, However, says "Big Bot would be way better than Asipi with this Outlaws defense. When I heard that the outlaws would send him down to the DSFL, I for sure thought they were crazy. When they got him, I believe it should've been Asipi sent down instead. With this though, I guess it all makes sense."
We tried to come in contact with Asipi, or the Arizona Outlaws, and only Co-GM Chess responded. Co General Manager Charles Albert Chess had this to say about Asipi's switch to the offensive line:
"It's a really selfless move by Asipi, we all know that offensive line isn't the most glamorous of positions but the entire Outlaws front office just has to salute Arbin for his willingness to make this difficult switch for the betterment of our franchise. While the media and other teams around the league like to spread fake news about Asipi's work ethic, the fact is he's altering the course of his career simply to make the Arizona Outlaws a better team. We are additionally excited to see how Big Bot will perform in the NSFL once again, and we hope he enjoyed some sunshine and relaxation in Tijuana as he helped to launch his DSFL team in their inaugural decision. The Outlaws success rides almost entirely on players like Arbin Asipi, Godfrey King Pat Pancake, Tim Pest, among countless others, who are so willing to put the team first.
Statistically it may not be considered as exciting to be an offensive lineman but that doesn't mean it is not an important position. Building a strong foundation on the line is extremely important and considering that the o-line is the Outlaws weakest unit this move will undoubtedly help us in our quest to an unprecedented third Ultimus trophy. Once again, we in the Outlaws front office take our hats off to Arbin Asipi and we remain confident that if he trains at a high-level he will be a Pro Bowl level player in no time." IF Asipi were to move to O line and dominate, and Big bot doing the same at DT. The Outlaws would have a real change to go undefeated. Of course, again, this is all dependent on both players doing well in their new positions and with new teammates and big bots case. If they both fail to do well, its possible this move could cost the Outlaws huge, perhaps stopping a threepeat in their tracks. Of course we still dont know if these rumors are true or not. But with Chess' response we can be assured it will. We were told this by a source close to Asipi, but he said he still doesnt know if the move will happen. Of course this we now know it will.
If Arizona does win the ultimus, and Asipi dominates, and continues to dominate for a few more years. Its possible that at the end of his contract, he could recieve a huge deal in Free agency, or a huge extension from the Outlaws. OLine is a very important position, and every team would be happy to sign a good one. This has been ESPEEN reporting, and we'll still have more on whether or not, Asipi will actually move.
