tbh, having run website, game servers and voice programs you only realistically need 25-30$ a month to run it. So whoever owns the site is just making money.

Honestly, I'm not crazy about allowing people to pay real money for extra TPE, but I also understand them needing to pay for the forum. It is actually a really nice forum.
Ultimately, I look at NSFL as my main sim league and EFL as a way to explore the sim program and player positions a bit more, so I'm not as harsh as I could be on them. In a way, my players there are experiments for future players here. So, I'm not invested enough there to let it bother me. However, I can easily see how that would deter someone enjoying the league. I'm a believer that everyone should have the same opportunities regardless of money paid or jobs/titles held. Heck, even the contracts are used to buy TPE directly with in-game cash. I much prefer the NSFL system where money is limited to weekly trainings and seasonal equipment. I have a ton of money in the bank, but it doesn't give me a massive edge over other people here, just a bit of a headstart on future weeks/seasons. (On the other hand, I admit that it solves the problems of players taking minimum contracts to keep teams stacked, but I still feel like there's a more balanced solution possible.) This is the donation page: Link. They admit that it only takes about $30 / mo. to run, but based on the price ranges, someone is probably making money off this. |
