DSFL SINGLE SEASON RUSHING TDs RECORD HOLDER Marquise Brown walks out to a San Antonio Marshals branded podium and background dressed in a dark green suit and tie. He grabs the small mic and moves it down a bit so it’s at his height. He adjusts his tie and proceeds to speak.

“So uhh, I’m here to talk about the regular season, postseason, and the future to come. To start, I think we had a phenomenal regular season and we're fired up to get to the playoffs. Me and the guys are progressing quickly and I'm confident about where we're at going into the playoffs. Any questions?”

How high are team expectations going into the postseason? The Marshals are heavy favourites, so it is "Ultimini or bust?"

"Me and the squad in the locker room are definitely excited about what this team can do in the playoffs. We've been doing major damage throughout the regular season which makes us very confident in our abilities facing off against the best of the best. We truly think we have a good shot at the Ultimini, and we're feeling pretty confident. We're losing a good amount of guys next year from call-ups and the like so at this point in time it's for sure Ultimini or bust in the locker room. But overall we're feeling very good and we're looking to win a ring.

In terms of the draft, have you given consideration to where you might end up and where you want to end up?

"I have. 4 teams so far have contacted me and scouted me which I think is fair. But I really want to end up in a place where I can lead a backfield and have a backfield to myself. I know I can be a bellcow back and a fundamental piece to a championship caliber offense, I just need to develop and make sure that I'm getting the best training possible before being thrown into the big leagues."

Who do you think will be the 1OA selection in this draft?

"I think that I'm the best player in this draft and I have potential to be one of the greats. I'm active and I'm putting in work every day to make sure I'm the best player that I can possibly be. That being said, some teams have needs that they obviously have to address, and I understand if I'm not the first pick, though I feel I should be. San Jose has the first pick and they're looking for a spark plug on defense that can bring that unit some glory, and there isn't anyone I'd rather have plugged into safety than my boy Bucky. He's a machine and he can literally do it all on the field. Not to mention, he's a good locker room presence and someone that has a great attitude. So I could see him going first to the Sabercats for sure."

Do you expect to play another DSFL season next year with the Marshals?

"Well, I've given it a lot of thought for sure. I could either take some time to develop further in San Antonio and reach my peak in the DSFL before moving up to the NSFL, or I could be thrown into the fire immediately and have the impact on an offense that I know I'll have. Honestly for my career, I think staying in San Antonio for another year would be best for me. I love playing there, being in Marshal green and Marshalling up! But if I'm needed by the team that drafts me to be the leader of a backfield, then I'll rise to the challenge. It'll be hard leaving those guys, but I'm going to move on to bigger and better opportunities in the future and if I want to be the greatest, then I'll have to leave at some point in the future."

Where do you see your player developing next in terms of strengths and attributes?

"As of right now, I'm top 2 in speed, if not, then I'm the fastest player in the DSFL. I know that I'm the fastest player in this draft class for sure. My game is built around speed so making sure I get to a high enough speed stat is crucial. I'll also have to work on my agility. Right now, I'm at a decent place. But I'll be working on it in the future and if I want to be effective coming out of the backfield, I have to make sure I'm agile enough to go toe-to-toe against the big guys. I'll also be working on my hands and working on becoming a better receiving threat in the near future. I'm going to be a dual threat in the NSFL, and for me to become that type of player, I'll have to become a better receiver in a league built around passing."

In what tier of prospect do you see yourself in this draft class?

"Well obviously I think I'm tier 1. Elite. I should be getting grouped up with the best of the best in this class. I say that based on a couple of factors: number one would be my work ethic. Even though I've been involved in the league for about a month now, I've been incredibly active in both the Discord and on the forums, writing media pieces and submitting PTs. Number two would be my overall build. Like I said before, I'm the fastest player in this draft class and one of the fastest in the entirety of the DSFL. I've developed and built my game really well and the truth is in the pudding. I mean, 1222 rushing yards, 15 touchdowns, and on only 264 attempts. What more could you want? I'm a motivated young buck looking to lead a team to victory, and I hope these GMs see that."

And finally, congrats on the DSFL rushing TD record and 1255 yards. That's huge and a major achievement. Big props man.

"Thank you, I really appreciate it. It means a lot coming from someone like you that's for sure."

An 11-3 season ties the DSFL’s best record ever, and guarantees you’ll have homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. What’s the atmosphere like in San Antonio right now (the city as a whole, the lockerroom, etc?

“The atmosphere’s amazing. The locker room is hyped for a playoff appearance and we’re ready to get to work and prove why we’re the best. The city is so supportive of us and they’re as hyped as we are. Having home field throughout the playoffs is huge for us especially. But yeah we’re ready to play some football and prove ourselves.”

You had 5 more touchdowns than the next highest scoring runningback, and over twice as many as the league’s leading scoring receiver. What made this legendary production possible?

“It’s crazy to think that in my first year, I’d have so much impact on this team and can help lead this offense to an Ultimini win. It’s pretty surreal. But I just do what I do and give it my all whenever I’m out there. Our o-line never fails to give me good looks, our gameplan gets me involved in the game, and I just have to capitalize on those opportunities given to me by both the offense and the opposing defense. I’ve still got a lot to work on, but I think I have a bright future in this league.”

Is your mind focused all on the Ultimini right now in the days leading up to it, or are you also thinking about the draft?

“My mind is 100% on the Ultimini and nothing else. I’m focused on putting in hard work and developing to make sure we’ll be ready for a playoff run. We have some tough opponents to face and it’s going to be a challenge but me and the team are up for it. I’ll focus on the draft when I need to focus on the draft but right now, it’s 100% playoffs on my mind.”

Do you believe your good looks or your impressive thighs will take you farther in the playoffs?

“Yes.”

The latest mock draft out by Sapp had you going in the late first round. Do you think that is fair? Would you draft yourself higher or lower?

*chuckle* “Uh... yeah I saw that. I don’t know if I’d agree with everything that nick put out there, to say the least. There are some teams early in the draft that need an offensive spark plug like me, so it really doesn’t make sense that I’d fall that far down. These GMs know my worth, and these mock drafts don’t effect me. I know I’ll be drafted earlier than that.”

What is it like to play on the team in the DSFL with the best, most successful history?

“It’s an honor to be drafted by San Antonio and play in Marshal green. So many great players come from San Antonio, and I’m looking to be the next. We have a rich history and our fans expect championships. We’re just looking to make them proud and to uphold the rich football history of San Antonio. We want to bring that Ultimini home.”
