My previous media article established the top 10 lists in NOLA history, for games, seasons, playoffs and careers. And now I can do a reveal every season with the season updates and show how current players have been able to etch their names into the long history of this storied franchise.
Here is the Season 19 update for the top 10 NOLA lists.
To start out with, let's look at games records, which is some of the hardest things to put your name on the list as many categories seem kind of maxed out already. Still we managed to add quite a few new things to the list this year:
Passing rating: This season, Stan Francisco managed to have one of the all time great games for a player in the history of NOLA and I actually managed to not only get into the top 10 but I managed to get all the way to the top! New franchise record for passer rating at 149.1
Rushing yards: Our two-headed monster both managed to add their name to the list for rushing yards. Marcella Toriki is now in 6th place with her 152 yard performance, whereas Forrest Gump is 3rd with a 168 yard performance!
Receiving average: With the minimum of three catches, our star wideout Bonaberi Jones put his name on the list here, coming in 4th with a 34.3 yards per catch.
Pancakes: With human O-lines now once again a thing, our O-line dominated all-year. Brave Ulysses put his name on this list twice, with 9 and 7 pancakes, good for 2nd and 10th all time.
Punt average: While not necessarily the most exciting stat, Herbert Prohaska punted his way into glory this season with a 52.3 average in a game, good for 9th all time.
Punts inside 20: With three punts inside the 20, Prohaska also put his name in here, also at 9th all time.
Punt return yards: This season saw two amazing punt return touchdowns by Forrest Gump, who put both games into the top ten, with 96 and 77 yards, good for 2nd and 6th all time.
That ends the game-records. Exactly ten new top ten records were set, a very successful year! Congratulations everyone!
Now let's look at the seasons, obviously a very awesome achievement if you can put your season in the top ten!
Passing touchdowns: With my 18 touchdowns, I barely made the list at 10th all time.
Passing interceptions: 11 interceptions were more than I wanted, but still it is the 7 fewest in franchise history.
Passing rating: I broke one game record and managed to also get into the season's top ten. At 8th all time with a 79.50 passer rating.
Rushing yards: Forrest Gump impressed with 1204 yards and comes in 8th all time.
Rushing average: The two-headed monster once again. Both Toriki and Gump made the list. Gump at 4.48 and 7th, Toriki at 4.55 and 3rd all time!
Tackles for loss: Rarely do you ever see a rookie make one of these lists and it is even more impressive that we have one this year. An impressive rookie season for the first overall pick Mack Arianlacher who ended up with 12 tackles for loss, 10th all time.
Forced Fumbles: Another duo makes the list, as both Xerxes Ridley and Tyler Swift had 3 forced fumbles this year, 6th and 7th all time.
Fumbles recovered: Swift also didn't just force three, he also recovered three. Good for 2nd all time!
Passes defended: Deon Taylor had an all around impressive season as he was a shut down corner who ended up with 27 passes defended, good for 3rd all time.
Extra points made: Prohaska finishes the season with 34 extra points, 8th all time.
Field goals made: Prohaska had 27 field goals, good for 6th all time.
Field goal percentage: Prohaska hit on 90% of his field goals, making him 7th all time in that category.
Punt average: Barely making the top 10 at 10th, Prohaska had 44.32 yards per punt.
Punt return yards: Forrest Gump crushes it with 324 yards and comes in 5th all time.
Punt return average: While Gump only had the 5th most yards, he had less punt returns overall, ending up with a 14.09 punt return average, a NEW BEST! Number one all time.
Punt return touchdowns: And another NEW BEST! Gump had two touchdowns, better than everyone before him!
Pancakes: Our O-line duo was dominant this year. Rubbe got 49 pancakes and Ulysses got 54 pancakes, making them both impressive near the top at 5th and 3rd respectively.
Sacks allowed: Remember how I said they were dominant? Neither of them allowed a SINGLE SACK ALL YEAR. This is an unprecedented show of dominance and they are both tied for 1st all time obviously. Never done before!
That ends the seasonal review. Now to the playoffs one where we clearly added a lot of new stuff! The team only made it to the playoffs for the fifth time so there was lots of space in these lists. Plus we won a game and played a second so it's pretty good!
Passing yards: Stan Francisco starts with 564 yards and is on his slow path towards Borkus, 2nd all time.
Passing touchdowns: With 4 touchdowns, I am also still far behind Borkus for now.
Passing interceptions: I threw 1 interception, this is sadly a record I could easily get, as Borkus only ever threw 3 interceptions in the playoffs.
Passing percentage: I got one! For now, anyway. I actually played really well in the playoffs and ended up with a 75.41% completion percentage, better than Borkus.
Passing rating: Since percentage was so good, my rating was as well. Like I said, I actually played surprisingly well and ended the playoffs with a 118.48 rating, first all time.
Rushing yards: Gump and Toriki did well, with 164 and 141 yards, 3rd and 4th all time. Both should reach Borkus by next season, but Smallwood is miles ahead for now.
Rushing average: Nothing all that impressive, but all three are on the list, Toriki, Gump and Francisco come in 4th, 5th and 6th.
Rushing touchdowns: Gump had the single rushing touchdown this playoffs.
Receiving catches: The MAN himself, Vladimir Fyodorovich adds a few more catches in his last season and climbs a few spots, to 4th now and 22 catches. Vinny Valentine comes in 10th with his 8 catches this postseason.
Receiving yards: Similar to catches, Fyodo climbs a few spots and is now 4th with 296 yards. Valentine and Jones both are in the top 10 with 143 yards.
Receiving average: Valentine (2nd), Jones (3rd), Fyodo (7th) and Toriki (9th) all make this top ten list!
Receiving touchdowns: Mr. touchdown himself adds two more postseason touchdowns for 7 all time now, still in first place. Gump and rookie Austin McCormick come in 9th and 10th with their first career postseason receiving touchdowns!
Tackles for loss: Long-time NOLA player Lo Rax is in third, while rookie Mack Arianlacher joins the list in 4th, with 3 tackles for loss.
Forced Fumbles: Lo Rax, Mack Arianlacher, Quenton Bode and Xerxes Ridley all have one forced fumble and join the list.
Fumbles recovered: Johnny Slothface is in the right place at the right time and scoops up two fumbles, now first all time here! Rax also has one.
Sacks: Johnny Slothface once again, enters a top ten list. He has 3 sacks for 6th all time.
Interceptions: Rector had an interception and enters the top ten list.
Passes defended: Xerxes Ridley and Jordan Andrews have 2 PDs and enter the top ten.
Kicking and Punting: Prohaska enters all the kicking and punting lists, despite not really doing well. Missing half of the extra points is bad.
Kick returns: Gump and Jones had some kick returns and did ok. Gump did very well for the average (2nd).
Punt returns: Gump had some punt returns and did alright.
Pancakes: Ulysses had 11 pancakes and Rubbe had 10 pancakes, as the first human O-Liners in the playoffs.
And that wraps up the playoff lists. Now for the most interesting category. The top 10 career lists!
Passing yards: Francisco stays in 2nd place, still about 30k yards behind Borkus.
Passing touchdowns: Francisco still in 2nd place, still around 190 touchdowns behind Borkus.
Passing Interceptions: With my 44th interception, I now passsed Bercovici and am 2nd all time.
Passing percentage: No change, Francisco still in 4th place.
Passing rating: Still 2nd place for Francisco.
Rushing yards: Gump is still 3rd all time, with no change, but he sets up a big chance to gain two spots next season. He needs about 1300 yards to reach #1 in team history. He is almost bound to pass Smallwood for #2, at about 800 yards behind him. Toriki enters the top 10, with her 1000 yard season. She could reach Borkus next season with another 1000 yard season. Potentially also Aksel Danielsson if she gets 1100 yards.
Rushing average: Gump gets a spot higher by helping his average this year.
Rushing touchdowns: Gump stays in third but he will reach 2nd next season. Toriki enters the top ten and ties Francisco for 8th all time.
Receiving catches: Fyodo increases his lead and ends at 596 catches. Well ahead of anyone else. Bonaberi Jones is still in 8th place, like he was previously. He should make some huge steps forward next season though and in two seasons. He is only 112 catches behind 3rd place. Forrest Gump enters at 10th all time.
Receiving yards: Vladimir Fyodorovich did it! It was really close and had some crazy moments, but he did it. 10,002 yards for Fyodo in the end. What a career. Bonaberi Jones makes up a spot and is now 6th all time, passing Tyler Swift.
Receiving average: Fyodo stays in 2nd, Jones stays in 5th.
Receiving touchdowns: Fyodo increases his lead further, ending at 53 touchdowns. Jones now has 18, 7th all time.
Tackles: Quenton Bode is closing in on the top players, staying in 5th this season, but with an eye towards the top. He has a great chance to end at #1 all time. Rax is in 7th still. Johnny Slothface enters the top ten at 8th after a great season. Should get up to 6th by next season.
Tackles for loss: Lo Rax ends at 82, exactly double as the next best. Great career.
Forced fumbles: Bode stays in 5th, Johnny Slothface enters the top ten at 6th, Tyler Swift enters the top ten at 10th.
Fumbles recovered: Bode climbs a spot to 3rd, Swift enters the top ten at 4th.
Sacks: Lo Rax climbs two spots to get to 2nd all time, only three behind the leader now. Slothface climbs a spot from 10th to 9th.
Interceptions: Deon Taylor had a great season and climbs two spots from 5th to 3rd. The top two spots will be tough to reach for a while.
Passes defended: Deon Taylor had a huge season in this regard and climbs two spots from 3rd to now 1st all time! Huge accomplishment and one that stands out to me personally because I used to have that record haha. Taylor is the first with over 100 PDs in NOLA history. Jordan Andrews enters the top 10 at 9th all time.
Defensive Touchdowns: Taylor has one and stays in 9th.
Extra points made: Prohaska enters at 5th all time.
Extra point percentage: Prohaska enters at 7th all time.
Field goals made: Prohaska enters at 6th all time.
Field goal percentage: Prohaska enters at 4th all time.
Punts made: Prohaska enters at 9th all time.
Punt yards: Prohaska enters at 9th all time.
Punt average: Prohaska enters at 4th all time.
Punts inside 20: Prohaska enters at 8th all time.
Kick returns: Gump climbs 3 spots from 7th to 4th. Jones enters the top ten at 9th. Gump is likely climbing this a bit more.
Kick return yards: Fyodo still at the top. Swift is 4th. Gump climbs from 8th to 6th. Jones enters at 9th.
Punt returns: Gump climbs a spot from 4th to 3rd all time.
Punt return yards: Gump climbs two spots from 5th to 3rd.
Punt return average: Forrest Gump climbs two spots here thanks to his strong season from 5th to 3rd.
Punt return touchdowns: Gump enters freshly at 2nd all time, with two this year.
Pancakes: Brave Ulysses caps off his amazing season by climbing a huge EIGHT spots from 9th to 1st all time. He will only improve that mark in the future. Rubbe enters as a newcomer at 7th all time. He will climb this list very fast as well!
And that concludes everything.
