With the S24 ISFL Draft wrapped up, teams are preparing to integrate their new players to the lineup or send some back to the DSFL to develop more before unleashing them in the ISFL. I will be looking at the Chicago Butchers draft picks from this draft class to see how they performed in the DSFL and what their role will be going into the S24 ISFL season. I also need them media money so I can keep paying for my weekly training and shiny new equipment. I have not interacted with these players yet since I have been away the past couple weeks but if you are any of the players recently drafted, say hi to me in the LR
Round 1
Pick 1 Juan Domine - LB (
)
@”Maglubiyet”
Juan Domine was picked by Chicago 1st overall in the S24 ISFL Draft. The former London Royals linebacker will enter a Chicago defense that will try to make the leap after a promising S23 ISFL season. Domine’s presence will boost an already fearsome linebacker corps headed by Mike Hockbertz and Hingle Mcringleberry. Domine will probably be part of the linebacker rotation as he increases his skill throughout the season. Domine accumulated 166 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles, 3 sacks, 2 interceptions and 7 passes deflected. He truly showed his versatility as a player, whether it be blitzing and putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks or defending the air by covering wide receivers one on one. His addition to the team will help the Butchers coming into the season to stop opposing teams’ running backs to exploit the middle and also help the secondary to cover opposing wide receivers. Domine will be spending another season in the DSFL with the Royals to get playing time, develop his skills and earning more TPEs along the way so he will be more ISFL ready when he is called up.
Round 2
Pick 13 Ice Box Riposte - OL (
)
@”Mavfatha”
The Chicago Butchers picked offensive lineman Ice Box Riposte with the 13th pick in the 2nd round. The young offensive lineman will help the Butchers in protecting quarterback George O’Donnell from getting sacked and also open up ways for running backs Baby Yoda and Julio Tirtawidjaja to run past the opposing team. His addition on the line will be felt immediately, given he is definitely ISFL ready. Riposte has 90 strength as a rookie and his run blocking is already at 82. Statswise, his numbers in the DSFL did not pop out with 32 pancakes and 3 sacks allowed. But it's hard to judge an offensive lineman based on numbers alone. If Riposte gets to develop well in the upcoming seasons, the Butchers will have a more complete offensive line with Riposte playing alongside Benson Bayley Jr. and Perry Tucker Jr. Riposte will be spending at least an extra season in Tijuana where he will be developing more and also compete for the Ultimini.
Round 4
Pick 37 Oliver Sloan - S (
)
@”Netlandic”
Oliver Sloan was picked in the 4th round by the Butchers with the 37th overall pick. Sloan will enter a defensive backfield filled with excellent players in Hamish MacAndrew and Eric Richards that will be great mentors for the rookie safety. With Sloan in the rotation, the Butchers already improved an impressive unit that gave some teams with offensive weapons headaches. He will probably slide into both free safety and strong safety during games, depending on when Richards and MacAndrew needs a rest. Sloan’s season in the DSFL was also quite productive with 38 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, 3 sacks, an interceptions and 3 passes deflected. Sloan will play this upcoming season in the DSFL with Minnesota where he can earn more TPE and develop more before jumping into action with the Butchers in the ISFL.
Round 5
Pick 49 Crowbar Theeks - RB (
)
@”BWIII”
Crowbar Theeks from the Tijuana Luchadores was picked in the 5th round with the 49th pick by Chicago. Theeks will join Julio Tirtawidjaja as a former Luchadores running back on the Butchers roster. Theeks will be entering a crowded backfield with Julio Tirtawidjaja and Baby Yoda as the primary running backs entering the S24 ISFL season and Quanter Skrills waiting in the wings as well. Saying Theeks is a draft steal is an understatement because he had an impressive season in the S23 DSFL season. He was the leader in rushing yards and co-leader for rushing touchdowns. The LSU alum had 1592 yards from 337 carries and 11 touchdowns. He’s definitely the more impressive Tijuana prospect stats wise on the Butchers roster. The Luchadores would definitely welcome having Theeks on the field for another season and he might also be happy with that while developing skills and try to win the Ultimini.
Round 6
Pick 61 Eliajah Williams - RB (
)
@”Eliajah”
The Butchers picked Eliajah Williams in the 6th round with the 61st overall pick. Williams is another Tijuana Luchadores running back picked by Chicago! Williams seemed to be an IA given he only has 50 TPE but it seems like Bayley and Muford might have found a hidden gem as he has been seen and quite active in the Butchers locker room. Despite his inactivity, Williams was still able to amass 245 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. He also had 137 receiving yards from 19 catches. If he has become active, Williams will certainly be staying in the DSFL to develop his skills but his addition to the team will boost an already stacked factory line of running backs the Butchers have right now.
Round 7
Pick 73 Jason Polinger - S (
)
@”RattyBal21”
The Butchers picked safety Jason Polinger from the Pythons in the 7th round with the 73rd pick. Polinger is unfortunately an IA and has not shown any signs of being back to active. If he becomes active again, he will probably stay in the DSFL for at least an extra season or if willing, switch to another position as the safety position is quite full right now.
