I thought it would be interesting to look back at the S22 DSFL draft by round, to see what the correlation is (if any) between round, average TPE, and number of inactives. This was a very large draft, with 271 players taken in 34 rounds. Many players were new players and not recreated by existing members. My hypothesis is that for the first few rounds average TPE will be higher and number of inactives will be relatively low. As the draft progresses average TPE will drop and the number of inactives will remain lower. At some point, teams were unable to really scout such a large number of players and are simply taking shots in the dark. At this point average TPE and number of inactives will no longer follow a pattern as they did in the first few rounds. For my purposes, I consider players inactive with no activity for the past month and also grouped retired players in this category. All positions are as they were drafted. For TPE purposes, I used the tracker and all TPE values were current as of this writing.
Round 1 - With the exception of the 3 QBs taken, the rest were defensive players (2 CB, 2 S, and 1 DT). Their average TPE was 626. Three players in this round are now inactive.
Round 2 - 1 RB and 1 WR were taken, and the rest were again defensive players (2 CB, 1 LB, 1 DT, 1 S, and 1 DE). Their average TPE was 667, the highest in this draft, and one player is now inactive.
Round 3 - The run on defense continues (2 S, 2 CB, 1 LB and 2 DT), as the only offense position taken this round was a single RB. Their average TPE was 520, a significant drop from the first two rounds, and four players are now inactive.
Round 4 - This round was the first with as many offensive (2 RB, 1 TE, and 1 WR) as defensive (2 CB, 1 DT, and 1 LB) players taken. Their average TPE was 541 and three players are now inactive.
Round 5 - This round had four offensive (2 TE, and 2 WR) and four defensive (1 LB, 1 CB, 1 DE, and 1 S) players drafted. Their average TPE was 625 and one player is now inactive.
Round 6 - This round had one offensive (1 WR) and seven defensive (2 S, 1 DE, 1 CB, and 3 LB) players. Their average TPE was 400 and five players are now inactive.
Round 7 - Five offensive (1 QB, 2 WR, and 2 OL) and three defensive players (2 DE and 1 S) were drafted. Their average TPE was 518 and two players are now inactive.

Round 23 - Three offensive (1 QB, 1 TE, and 1 RB) and five defensive (1 LB, 1 S, 2 CB, and 1 DT) were drafted. Their average TPE was 129 and seven players were inactive.
Round 24 - Two wide receivers and six defensive (2 CB, 2 DE, and 2 DT) players were drafted. Their average TPE was 54 and all eight players from this around were inactive.
Round 25 - Five offensive (1 QB, 2 RB, and 2 TE) and three defensive (1 DE, 1 DT, and 1 CB) players were drafted. Their average TPE was 53 and all eight players were inactive.

Round 34 - Five QBs and two TEs were drafted. Their average TPE was 80 and all seven players were inactive.
If you’ve read this far, thank you! If you skipped to the bottom, I don’t blame you. This draft was a massive draft with 271 picks. However, only 79 (29%) remain active players in the ISFL. My hypothesis held out pretty well, as the first 10 rounds average 525 TPE, rounds 11-20 average 201, and rounds 21-30 average a lowly 82. Further, there were fewer inactives in the first 10 rounds (average 2.5) while the rest of the draft averaged 7 inactives per round. In fact, every round after 10 had at least a 50% inactive rate.
