Being a DSFL GM has been very rewarding, and I've considered trying it at the NSFL level. However, when Daybe stepped down as GM in COL, I did not submit my name to be considered as a GM of the Yeti. I didn't even think about it.
While not wanting to be GM of a shitty team is understandable, I have given considerable thought to volunteering to be the GM of an expansion team should we ever expand again, a job I trust to be every bit as painful as GMing the Yeti.
I think the difference is that it's easier to start from scratch than deal with the mistakes of others. Currently, that is the situation our HO is in.
I won't act like I have been thriled with our HO. Even the current group, while a considerable improvement, does need to work on some things. Unfortunately, I don't know HOW much they've improved because they aren't being given much of a chance.
If the recent accusations had been previously brought to HO attention and the reporter had been assured it was being investigated, I do think blasting it out may have been premature. However, if these accusations were brought up prior to Er being named the new boss, irreparable damage may have been done.
There will doubtlessly be other scandals in the future. To site members, give HO a chance to do their job before gathering a mob to do it for them. To HO, know that if problems aren't addressed fairly and transparently, that there will be a significant backlash, one I am not confident this league can survive.
There are multiple members of HO that I have great faith in, but I worry that there is too much concern over image, which can be among the worst of ethical traps. I, and I hope others, will allow you to do your job, but trust will take time. I want us, as a community, to get to that point.
To sum up, HO needs to re-earn our trust, but they need to be given a chance to earn it.
