Howard Miller's DSFL career came to a satisfying conclusion today after a 31 - 6 win in the developmental league's Pro Bowl, in which he tallied 5 receptions for 98 yards. Now, Miller is finally set to make his transition into the NSFL.
But how does the rookie stack up against the league's top receivers? We thought we'd take a look at how he compares to the top 2 wide receivers (by receiving yards) from the Season 6, by analysing his speed, agility, catching ability, strength, intelligence, and endurance.
We will rate each receiver's attributes out of 100, as well as giving a % of Miller's comparison in that area. For example, if we believe Miller is half as fast as another receiver, we would rate his speed 50%.
Jordan Yates
Hands: 75 (Miller 81, 108%)
Speed: 100 (Miller 90, 90%)
Agility: 84 (Miller 80, 95%)
Strength: 70 (Miller 55, 79%)
Intelligence: 69 (Miller 40, 58%)
Endurance: 82 (Miller 64, 78%)
Josh Garden
Hands: 86 (Miller 81, 94%)
Speed: 92 (Miller 90, 98%)
Agility: 92 (Miller 80, 87%)
Strength: 65 (Miller 55, 85%)
Intelligence: 60 (Miller 40, 67%)
Endurance: 85 (Miller 64, 75%)
Review
Miller appears to be similarly physically gifted as two of the league's top receivers - not just from the past season, but its entire existence.
Considering the gulf in experience Yates and Garden have over Miller, the differences in their raw ability are far from excessive. In fact, Miller looks placed to be a better athlete overall than both, should he stay as committed to his trade as he has been leading up to being drafted.
Where Miller clearly lacks is game endurance and knowledge. This is to be expected, as he is yet to play a single snap in the NSFL. With experience, these traits will develop. When they do - and coupled with Miller's natural receiving talents - it seems apparent there will be nothing stopping him from becoming one of the league's greatest receivers.
But, as with all things in football, only time will tell...
