What up guys, it's your boy Moosecop coming at you live with another DSFL :dsfl: Power Rankings: Presented by Generic Erectile Dysfunction Pills and Big, Powerful Pick-up Trucks "Because you're the target demographic." Anyway, we've got Weeks 3 and 4 coming up, so let's see the changes from last time.
1.
(-) - Coming in at the top spot remains the San Antonio Marshals. Weeks 1 and 2 saw them come up with two victories against the Seawolves and the Solar Bears, just like they were expected to. They came away from those games putting up 51 points for, the second most in the league, while only conceding a league-best 23. Albeit, not the best competition, the Marshals did exactly like they planned to with the defense providing a whopping 18 sacks in the two games, and bringing down 3 interceptions, one of which was taken to the house by Bucky Barnes. The running game from rookie Marquise Brown was stellar as well as he took 242 yards on the ground, just slightly behind the league leader, Elijah Lagerfield from Portland. The passing game was controlled well enough by Kevin Fitzpatrick as he only took 5 sacks with a 2:1 TD:INT ratio, but it was his receivers that were the stars. Footballer Catcherman, Brad Marchand, and Jai Turner were able to turn many short throws into breakout plays as they YAC'd all over the field for San Antonio accumulating 11 receptions of 20 yards or more. The Marshals did their job to start the season, but we'll see how they hold up against tougher opponents in the coming weeks.
2.
(+2) - Here we have the first jump of the season as we saw the Tijuana Luchadores go 2-0 to begin the year. In the opening game against Kansas City, they showed that the defense is legit as they shut down the young Coyotes offense for only 10 points in the first quarter. Tijuana held KC to a mere 178 total yards while making the running game a non-factor and forcing Showbiz, in his debut, to control the game, which he wasn't able to do. On the flip side, the offense had a day as Penner threw for 3 touchdowns all to different receivers, spreading the ball around fantastically as eight players had a catch. The running game was also superb with Spinelli and Ricky Adams splitting carries and collecting 167 yards between them. Tijuana's next game, against Palm Beach, must've been a trap game with them probably expecting to steamroll after their Week 1 performance, but were forced into some crazy heroics late in the game to get the victory. The offense was on the field and driving fairly often, as Tijuana forced 3 turnovers and racked up 432 total yards, but they just couldn't' finish a drive. All 21 of their points coming off of field goals from kicker Kyle Corbett. Don't expect that be the norm because this offense has shown they have tons of weapons.
3.
(-) - Portland stays put this week at number 3. Week 1 had them in Norfolk where they showed an amazing offensive explosion putting up the most points we've so far in the year, with 47. Quarterback Cole McCoy spread the ball around effectively to eight different receivers for 1 touchdown, but it was the ground and pound that shined for Portland. Rookie Elijah Lagerfield took his 24 touches for 127 yards, including a huge 51 yarder for six, while punching in another one. Portland's D provided great play as well by only giving up 210 yards total and giving the ball back to the offense with 2 interceptions, one of which from recently deceased safety Nick Sharper (RIP). Week 2 the Pythons faced Kansas City and had their receiving game shut off. McCoy only threw for 96 yards, while tossing 2 into the hands of the Yotes secondary. This didn't stop Lagerfield though as he proves why he will be a menace all season by raking in another 100+ yard game. Portland's defense played great and kept their team in the game with rookie linebacker Barnaby Earl collecting defensive player of the game honors, but with the offense sputtering they couldn't hold the fort long enough.
4.
(-2) - Dropping two spots is the Kansas City Coyotes. Most certainly the toughest schedule of the top four teams, the Yotes began their season by splitting the first two matchups. They were held to the least points and allowed the most points between the four non-bot teams, and that is why they dropped so much even though they beat Portland. Quarterback Gus T.T. Showbiz was held to an average of 130 yards through the air and 1 touchdown, on a 3 yards toss to Victor Ball. Not amazing numbers at all. The running game only showed up in Week 2 when LaMarcus Strike and Jamal Speedy each took one into the end zone and provided 197 yards, whereas they were held to just 69 yards on the ground in Tijuana. Like I said in my previous rankings, this team as a ton of young, potential stars on the offensive side of the ball. Don't be surprised to see these guys back at the top of my rankings in the coming weeks.
5.
(-) - The Solar Bears aren't expected to do much this season, but they put up a fantastic fight in their opening games on the road in San Antonio and Tijuana. They lost by 10 to the Marshals and held the Luchadores offense to only field goals, but the turnovers and penalties Palm Beach committed were too much to overcome.
6.
(-) - Yeaaaahhh, not much to say here, a bot team that played two good squads (Pythons and Marshals) to start the year. They got completely shut down on offense and their defense got demolished, scoring the least and allowing the most points in the league.
