Someone asked me to do a DSFL Mock Draft as well, so I'm back here with my thoughts on how it's going to shape up. Teams are going to be shuffling a lot of players around as they lose some to the NSFL, in addition to what is looking to be an amazingly stacked rookie class, so DSFL general managers have their work cut out for them and I do not envy it. Let's get into the first two rounds.
1.
Kazimir Oles | WR | University of Maryland
This is a no-brainer here. He joined the Coyotes late last season off waivers and lit up the league almost immediately. In just 4 games for them he caught 14 passes, collected 137 yards, and found paydirt twice. With Showbiz possibly returning to play QB, look for a great first full season for Oles in Kansas City.
2.
Dick Cheese | LB | Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University
A really tough choice here as the Marshals are set in a lot of key positions, but I think eventually they settle on Dick Cheese, a linebacker out of FAMU. With the loss of Brock Weathers to the NSFL and possibly Jesse Marchand, the Marshals should look to re-strengthen their front 7 with the best, and currently only, linebacker in the class. He's big, fast, and smells kind of funky, so look for him to make an impact for San Antonio early.
3.
Adriana Falconi | QB | Columbia University
The Pythons have a ton of picks in the draft, especially early on, so they can retool positions of need much later than other teams. With that in mind, I still think they take quarterback Adriana Falconi here in the first round to be Cole McCoy's successor. She joined the Luchadores late last season and didn't get to see a ton of game time but has been working hard in preparation for the draft and I expect her to be the first QB off the board.
4.
Zenyou Wozy | QB | Yellowknife
With Falconi off the board and Metaxas leaving to the NSFL, last years Ultimini champions pick up Zenyou Wozy. He'll be a change of pace for Tijuana as he isn't exactly what I would describe as "mobile", as he prefers to stand strong and tall in the pocket. He has the raw arm strength, good accuracy, and a good football IQ to be the offensive general as the Luchadores look to go back to back.
5
Felix Hasselhoff | WR | Germany
After taking their QB in the first round here they give her someone to throw to by returning Felix Hasselhoff. This possibly could be a spot for one of the up and coming running backs to be selected, but since that position is so deep, and Portland still has 2 more picks in this round alone, I think they go for a wideout. Hasselhoff got into 4 games for the Pythons at the end of S8 and showed good potential hauling in 16 receptions and a TD.
6.
Tanner Hendrix | WR | University of Missouri
With the loss of Footballer Catcherman and Blake Marchand the Marshals need a weapon for Kevin Fitzpatrick to throw to and I think that weapon is going to be Tanner Hendrix. He burst on the scene recently and has shown solid hands, speed, and route running ability, 3 of my most sought-after traits in a young wide receiver. Look for him to develop quickly with a veteran presence like Fitz throwing him the ball.
7.
Ryland Morley | DE | Duke University
After taking offense with their first 2 picks the Portland Pythons switch sides and grab, in my opinion, the best defensive end available, Ryland Morley from Duke. He's big, he's nasty, and his speed and strength combined will make him both a scary pass rusher, as well as a run stuffer, especially for a young prospect.
8.
D'Pez Poopsie | RB | Ole Miss
Last season the Pythons were home to the league leader in rushing yards, Elijah Lagerfield. With his future of staying down or going up to the NSFL in question, I believe the Pythons select D'Pez Poopsie here. He's a big, fast, 3 down back who can either move into a fullback spot if Lagerfield stays in Portland another season, or he can take over as the main ball carrier if that's what's necessary of him.
