Baltimore, MD
Following the passing of the trade deadline tonight, Alexandre LeClair has announced that he will not be re-signing with the Baltimore Hawks next season. The 9 season veteran has seen his playing time drastically decline after a fantastic S8 that saw him finally earn a nomination for best at his position, as well as his sixth Pro Bowl appearance.
In the crowded press conference room LeClair opened with: “I would first and foremost thank the Hawks organization for taking a chance on me back in Season 5. They have been nothing but a class act with me throughout these five seasons here in Baltimore and I hope we can end our relationship on a high and with the Ultimus in hand.
Also present at the press conference was Iam Essellem ( @iamslm22 ), head GM of the Hawks who added,
"LeClair has been an incredible player for us, both on the field and in the locker room. When we traded [Ricardo] Sandoval, it was a tough decision, but we have to say that winding up with LeClair has been a blessing. We are so happy to have had a Hall of Fame caliber receiver for several seasons and we wish him luck as he finishes his career."
With the recent additions of Declan Harp & Vinny Valentine through the most recent NSFL draft, and the presence of Budda Browning, Verso L’Alto & Trey Willie, space on the Hawks’ potent passing offense was beginning to be too tight and LeClair seems to have been the one squeezed out the most from this, especially due to his age. This however, does not seem to be a concern for the upcoming free agent.
“Yeah I’m a bit older than the others on the team but it hasn’t yet affected my performance on the field. Guys like [Bradley] Westfield & [Mayran] Jackson are still out there doing just as well as me.”
On how long he has left LeClair responded with. “At least one or two other seasons before I look at retirement”.
On a lighter note, one player that had a fun take on the situation was none other than kicker Turk Turkleton ( @Raven ), “Alex was a fun teammate to have but with him leaving I’ll finally be able to get my number 13 back, although number 61 has grown onto me.”
The Baltimore Hawks have let it known that teams willing to talk to LeClair may do so as of today. ( @iamslm22 can confirm)
