First of all, the otters have probably the most experienced in the nsfl as Mr Papa Shaka (yes his name is papa shaka. Don't ask) has won multiple championships in so many other sim leagues and even now has a very successful duke Blue Devils team in the sba. He just wins, unlike other coaches, the otters may have started slow but he's kept us hopeful throughout. It's paid off fully with 2 straight games where the otters destroyed the wraiths and sabercats. He keeps us motivated by getting to know us, he talks to us about our team and what he plans to do to win. We know the goal at the end of the day is a championship, not getting caught up in little regular season games that don't actually matter. We always have a plan set to succeed that I'm not sure everyone in this league has. We don't make snap decisions, players will play out of position if needed and will swallow their pride for the team. That's what shaka has built in this locker room, we might not have him past this season as our gm but I think I will fill in greatly. Our coach is the biggest reason we are the favorites for the championship, can't say that about every team

Coach is old fashioned. I don’t know how old he is, but he always tells us about fighting Germans in WWI. It seems like he would be pretty old if that were true. Anyways, he definitely has an old fashioned style. I’ll give you a few stories.

For starters, coach has three interns that carry around his Microsoft Surfaces; he’s got like 50 of the things because he thinks they’re pictures. The team has tried to show him that he only needs to use one, but at this point we have given up.

This year in training camp coach must have told every person to “stop being sissies and rub some dirt on it.” At first it seemed fine, people were just having minor issues shaking the cobwebs off. However, we realized something was up when our defensive tackle Luke Pierce’s finger was protruding a bone and coach told him to rub some dirt on it. I mean people were throwing up and this dude’s finger bone is hanging out and the coach just comes over with a handful of dirt. Maybe he was just too blind to see the bone. I don’t know.

Coach is also crazy about time, we’ve got to be to everything and hour earlier than we’re supposed to. If practice starts at 5 AM coach expects guys to be there at 4 AM. We’re not sure if he literally doesn’t know what time zone we’re in or is just big on punctuality.

Most of the time the old-timey stuff the coach does is fine. It has definitely given an old school level of mental and physical toughness, plus sometimes it’s hilarious. Personally, the worst part of the coach being so old is the water breaks. We don’t have fountains or tables with cups, whenever we take a water break we line up and the coach gives us all a ladle of water. It’s pretty damn weird. We’re all sharing one ladle and the coach only gives us one scoop. I don’t know man. One thing I won’t forget for the rest of my career and possibly life is “rub some dirt on it.”

Oh boy oh boy I have a story about coaching on the outlaws. I been playin for this team for 7 weeks and I cant even say who the is. At the start I think I wasn’t getting coached because I was doing real good for the team. But even lately when im sucking I am getting no coaching. By the way im sucking because im a younger player that most in the league and other guys get way more points to me. Anyways because I don’t know who coach is I think I can guess he is a silent behind the curtan lead by watching guy. I don’t know if all coaches in the league are so quiet and not active but if they talk to there player like once they are different. I will say I don’t know who coach is and he doesn’t do a lot to train/motivate team but we win games so he is good at plays so if that’s the main job in the league hes doing good. Also in a way the silence and hiding is a way to motivate. If I keep making mistakes maybe coach will decide to say something to me and help me make my character better. I don’t know how to build my guy but maybe they’ll see me giving sacks and tell me some idea. So I guess in a way coach is motivating me to be bad so they will coach me? That doesn’t seem like the best strat though.

The Wraiths OL coach, Yuri Vasiliev, is an old Russian, Cold War era powerlifting coach. He coached all of the best Olympic athletes from the USSR in the 70s and 80s, and he’s bringing that mentality over to the US and our offensive line. He’s ultra-aggressive and wants us in the weight room more than out on the field, perfecting technique. I’m not really sure if this is the right way to go about things, but he’s the coach so I’ll listen to him. He gives us this drink, calls it his go-go juice, before we start our workouts. It tastes like shit but it really gets us amped, and I feel like I can lift the world. He says it’s an ancient Russian recipe passed down from powerlifting coach to powerlifting coach. Apparently, he’s risking his life just by sharing it with the Americans, and the KGB are coming to get him any second. We keep telling him we play in Canada, not America, but I don’t think he really gets it. Either way I feel really good on gamedays and feel stronger than ever, so whatever he’s doing I hope he keeps it up. Oh, and after a gameday win he serves us his mother’s recipe of borscht. I really like borscht, it’s what keeps me coming back.

As a recent addition to the Orange County Otters, I haven't had the most time spent with the Coaching Staff, and yet they have already made it very clear the mentality and culture inside the Otters' locker room. Coach Shaka was very welcoming upon my rival, but also immediately got down to business. With the season being underway, there was no time for formalities, and yet I already knew that Shaka would be a Coach of the Year contender, whether or not that's a real award is another discussion. As a veteran in the sport, he knows how to cut through the useless stuff and get his players to their best state. He also has a deep knowledge in the defensive tackle position, which means I can connect well with him and share stories of moments in the trenches. To put it simply, the entire coaching staff of the Otters knows how to do their job and how to win. They don't play games, they just get down to the nitty-gritty. Thanks to all this, I expect this elite defense to dominate the NSFL and for this team to fight down to the final seconds to bring home some trophies.

The Wraiths QB coach is... odd to say the least, he is quite experimental, in addition to the normal things like throwing through tires, resistance training and things of that ilk, he had me practice throwing knives, grenades (which were live at the time let me tell you) horseshoes, he even had me throw balls from other sports like baseball and basketball. I suppose it is to get my shoulder used to all different kinds of throwing motions, but its rather unnerving that when I am practicing he is sitting over my shoulder quietly saying "yes, yes, unleash your hate". He is also the oddest coach I've ever worked with. He wears a hooded robe, and from what I can see he is quite pale, I suppose he has a skin condition as he is quite wrinkled in the face with yellow eyes... He says I have some of the most potential of those he's worked with since some large guy with a deep voice, I forget his name. The only odd thing I've noticed is that if I struggle in the drills, practice seems to end quickly due to lightning strikes, but then again... Ive never lived in Yellowknife before so it might just be a normal weather occurrence.
