I remember the s18 draft being a big deal, obviously in hindsight there was bigger draft classes but in that season we had the biggest draft so it was pretty exciting seeing all the talk, guesses and what not for who going to go where for and stuff. Rookie chat was pretty active with different VCs, everybody doing different mock drafts. Honestly didnt think I'd make it to the first round since there obviously alot of talent in thats draft, and I wasnt even too 2 in my position at the time, both maurice and Thudd had more TPE then me and both of those guys was releasing way more media then me, obviously Ia not that huge on media so thought that was gonna be a huge downward spiral for my draft stock. Honestly I think i was selects right where I was suppsoe to go, we had a million mock drafts placing me for the Copperheads at #10 so I guess thata selection didnt surprised no one. Obviously I am glad and the position I went at since I am still a copperhead to this day, not at linebackers anymore though, which is something I woudnt guess since I was happy at linebacker at that time. Overall it was a pretty fun draft class and it was my first NSFL draft so something I'll remember if being a good experience for my first time in the NSFL.

The S22 NSFL draft was quite interesting to me. I entered the day having no real hard feelings on where I'd end up. In most mock drafts I'd been going in the mid to late first round to a variety of teams that could use a defensive lineman but I'd also had somewhat deep conversations with a few other teams. But then in the previous year's DSFL draft, I hadn't really expected to go early but ended up as the 7th pick in the second round. So for the NSFL and given the mocks, I had spent some time wondering if I'd get surprised again. I ended up picked again as the 2nd round 7th pick, but 19th overall instead of 15th due to the larger number of NSFL teams.
The Copperheads were definitely not a team I thought I'd end up on. Given their trade fairly early on for the first overall pick and then not having a second pick until later in the second round, I thought it was fairly unlikely. I think it did end up being a fairly good team for me though - they had a real need for a player at my position and I was able to start for them immediately. I didn't exactly have a great rookie year statistically with the NSFL's higher caliber of play, but I think that I did help the team's defense as we made it to the conference finals. I think the Copperheads have a good chance to be competitive while I'm here and they've been fun, so I'm pretty happy with the location as it stands now.

Oh my goodness, was I surprised to see that I did not go to Honolulu. I thought for sure my good buddy Dwyer would draft me, but apparently the price tag scared him off (though it wasn't really that steep). Nonetheless, I am thrilled to be in Austin; that is certainly not the issue. I am merely of the belief that I was the best linebacker in the draft. Using current TPE as a ranking system for that does not tell all. Should we really be leaving it up to who created first? If anything, base it on percentage of available points (to that individual earned). But I digress, I was more bothered by that before the draft than I am afterwards, to be honest.

As for how this has impacted Porter, he is a human, it's on his mind. If anything, it is fuel in the fire, rather than an event on which to dwell, though. He recognizes the importance of mental resilience and fortitude in a game that wracks your body day in and day out. There's only so much he can control.

I think, perhaps the most important takeaway, though, is the outlook for Porter in Austin. It hasn't been excellent statistically. After all, he's playing a different position. Though, there have a string of anomalous events glazed in misfortune. Between the novelty of D-line, bad luck, and a particularly strong defense, Porter doesn't blame himself for not being able to stand out as a rookie quite yet.

Draft days are always so exciting, for the draftees, for the GMs, for the teams. It's one of the few events of the year where everyone gets to be as hyped up as possible. Marcella Toriki herself has been blessed to be drafted highly in both of the drafts that she has been a part of, going at 6 overall to the Norfolk Seawolves in the DSFL and 5 over to the San Jose Sabercats in the NSFL. But the draft day that sticks out to her most of all is not her own draft days. Not that those days weren't remarkable for her, because they certainly were life-changing and exceptionally memorable. No, Marcella Toriki's favorite draft memory is the most recent DSFL draft, where she was part of the welcoming crew for the new Norfolk Seawolves. This team has always meant a great deal to her as it was the foundation of her experience in professional football, and she is still very close to the management of the team. So, she was invited to be part of the small welcome crew, getting to shake hands with the newest seawolves as their names were called. Now 6 years removed from her own DSFL draft, getting to be among the fresh faces so excited to be joining the Virginia based team really helped to reignite her love for the sport after a long and grueling off-season plagued with personal issues and complications. After the draft, she headed home to write welcome letters to those selected as well, wishing them luck for the season ahead, and promising to attend as many games as she could for her beloved alma mater.

My draft experience was wild. I remember it like it was just yesterday I was very excitedabout joining a team but I was worried. What if I ended up on a team that ducked or a team that didn't need a DE or a team with a boring locker room. At the time all ofthese concerns felt quite serious. So I'm watching the draft and the picks start rolling in. Asher Montain at 1 wasn't a shocker. A kicker at 4 was interesting. As the first round came to a close and more and more people got picked I was getting more and more nervous who knows who will draft me at this point. And then with the first pick of the 2nd round the royals select me. Damn I was hyped. I hear sylphreni talking about me and it felt really hype to have been picked. The draft continues is the background as I browse my phone. All of a sudden I hear my name on the stream again. Hmm what's going on. Suddenly I see that my guys over at Minnesota traded for me. Not only was I going back to my face locker room in the league a team liked me enough to trade for me. I had a fun draft day!

Well, I have only ever been in one draft, this last DSFL draft. It was a very exciting time repeating the draft process for the first time since my inaugural draft in PBE this last new years, god, that feels like forever ago. Any way draft day was a complete roller coaster of emotions, especially when the team that seemed most interested passed on me in the first round, and I was kind of nervous because I was very interested in joining that first team and I knew that there were numerous other teams who appeared to really like me, and yes I liked some of them, but none as much as that first team. Then as the first round came and went I started sweating as thoughts went through my head saying "OH MY GOD WHAT IS HAPPENING"!!?? and "Oh please please please come onnnnnnn, be me." Then came the twelfth overall pick. I was sitting at my table outside sipping on some cranberry juice. Then comes stego's voice. The next thing I know all of a sudden there I am on the T.V. and boy oh boy was I excited. I got my team even with all the scares they gave me. Then came time for the big news, that position change.

Looking back at the S21 DSFL Draft where I went 14th overall is always fun. I was extremely anxious that day, the time had finally come where I would have a team to call home. I was excited, hopeful and ready to go. Heading into the draft, I honestly had no clue where I was gonna end up. I had talked with most teams through scouting, and was even in a few team LRs already (even though I didn't talk much in them I more so stayed in the gen and rookie chats at the time). Since I had been pretty active in Discord, writing media and earning at a good rate, I thought I was worth somewhere between a first and third round pick, but I knew that there were a lot of great players at secondary positions who could go before me. In such a huge class, I had no idea where I would be selected, and I had no idea who was really interested in me. I was intently watching the steam, and when pick 14 came up and Bex announced that I had been drafted and would be going to Norfolk, I was extremely excited. I jumped into the LR immediately and was greeted by the GMs, players and the Commissioner herself. It was such a fun introduction and everyone was super friendly. The atmosphere was incredible and I felt so happy to finally be on a team. I was really proud of being the 3rd safety selected too and being picked in the second round. All in all it was a really great day and it stands out as one of my favorite moments so far in the league. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have been picked by Norfolk. They gave me a perfect place to call home and I’m really thankful that Scorp, Juni and the rest of the Norfolk Alumni created such an incredible LR.

Heading into the Season 22 NSFL Draft I knew where I was going to go. After the scouting process kicked off it became very clear to me that although I liked almost every team in the league and didn't want to pass too much judgment because internal locker rooms are different then how people act in other channels, that Austin was the team I wanted to go to. I spoke to Joe and Adam and informed them both that if it was possible for me to end up in Austin that I'd be ecstatic, and shortly after they traded with Honolulu for the first overall pick in the draft. At that point not only was it insinuated to do me that I'd be the selection, the conversations I was having with other teams took on a different flavor as more teams began tempering the excitement they had displayed to talk to me. The actual draft was both exciting and lackluster. Going first overall is a huge honor - something I won't soon forget - but in the same way knowing you're going first overall does remove a bit of the excitement that permeates the draft. The air of mystery about where you're going to go falls apart. At the same time the draft stream had technical issues and as a result my pick was only displayed for about 4 seconds before they moved on.
