If I were to create an expansion team... let's see... I'd create one in Massachusetts, Boston to be exact. It is a great city and I have been there multiple times and it is such a fun city to be in. I think the NSFL would be in great company because the New England Patriots are currently set up in Massachusetts and they are the greatest NFL team of all time so I think the team there would be pretty cool. I'd call them the GOATs because GOAT means Greatest of All Time so any player would be on the GOATs would immediately be the greatest! Anyways in terms of branding I really like the idea of them being blue white and yellow because there is a lot of cool schemes like that I think it's a great color scheme. We'd have the best players honestly. I'd sign Korbin Brown, rising wide receiver superstar because he's gonna be one of the GOATs, which is why he'd be in good company with the Boston GOATs. So yeah I think this would be a good idea because this team would dominate the NSFC, as they suck anyway right now the NSFL would be put on notice because this team would be so damn good.

Don't get me wrong, I love New Orleans and that's been my dream team for a while. (It better be, given the ridiculous extension I just signed with them.) But if given the chance to create my own franchise? I'd definitely have some fun with it. I think that it'd be great to have more international teams, so that's where my initial focus goes. I think doing something in South America strikes a chord with me, so I'd like to submit the idea for the Patagonia Penguins. Now Bex, you may say, Patagonia is a sparsely populated region, why would we want to put a football franchise there? To which I say, well so is Yellowknife, and they've been a proud and noble franchise throughout league history. I think having a penguin team would be absolutely adorable. I envision black uniforms with white and pink accents. The team would able to engage a whole new fanbase, and I can only imagine that the fans of the Patagonia Penguins would be intensely engaged, which would allow for the team to really thrive. Not only does it bring football to a new audience, but it gives teams an excuse to travel more, and to engage with the world outside of North America. Sure we have London in the DSFL to push outside of that bubble, but I think we need to continue to push through, and that begins with the Patagonia Penguins.

I would argue for a team in Europe but I already find the fact that we have only one super dumb (I thought it was London Ontario tbh) so I'll stick to North America. My ideal branding would be the Roswell Invaders.

Roswell is a small town and it's only known around the world because of """""""aliens""""""" but as far as branding goes, the Yellowknife Wraiths pretty much gives us a free pass on everything that would be considered a bad idea because of location and population.

I love science fiction and the theme of aliens is not used enough for team names, whether it's in sim leagues or in real life. I do enjoy our occasional historical team names or cultural ones on the league but if I see another animal one, I'm gonna jump off a cliff.

The team's branding would allow for an original colour scheme, in my mind neon green and black, and just cool props and stadium. Since no one uses a branding even remotely close to this one, I think it would stand out nicely and people who were drafted there would be happy to represent the Invaders because it's just a kickass name and branding and their sigs would be recognized instantly.

I love the idea of naming, branding, and setting a location for an expansion team, but not so much the idea of actually managing one, so it's unlikely I'd ever be in a position to bring my ideas to live. That being said I have some ideas. The first thing I'd determine would be location of the team. I am a big fan of realism in sim leagues so that immediately rules out some regions, including some that already made it in the league (looking at you Yellowknife and London), I'd look for a place with high population that doesn't current have a nearby team. I think the north west could use a team, I could be a homer and pick Vancouver, but the more realistic locations would be Portland or Seattle. Let's go with Seattle. Next would be picking the branding, I'd want something different than the teams currently in the league obviously, something that stands out, but also something that makes sense for the location chosen. With the addition of two fish related teams recently I think you'd have to go away from that even though it's one of the obvious choices for Seattle. I would say the Seattle Sounders would work, but that's a soccer club and the confusion would be immense. I think I'd lean towards something like Seattle Lumberjacks. It's different than any current nsfl team, and when you think about Seattle/Washington you think trees.
