Please, for the love of God, please put a team in Boston. I’m sick of Boston not getting enough respect in these leagues when it comes time for city placement. For the past 20 years there hasn’t been a sports city more successful than Boston. Name the team the Boston Minutemen and make the colors red, white, and blue. I want to be the QB of an expansion team that’s in Boston. I’m going to have so much goddamn TPE by the time it’s all said and done, please if anyone is reading this, take this seriously. I’m not writing this just to write it as a PT. Put a team in Boston. Do you realize the closest thing in my sim league realm to there being a team in Boston is the goddamn PROVIDENCE Crabs in the PBE? Anyone from here will tell you: Providence sucks. Boston has a tradition and would be well served having an NSFL team grace their presence. Historically, think of all the incredible championship runs Boston has had. The early 1900s Red Sox were the MLB’s first dynasty. They've won the World Series 4 freaking times since 2004's drought-breaking win. The Boston Celtics won a World Championship in the 1950’s, 1960’s, 1970’s, 1980’s, and 2000’s. The only decades they haven’t won a title in the past 70 years were the 90’s and the 2010’s (Thanks Kendrick Perkins). The Boston Bruins were an Original Six NHL team and have won the Stanley Cup six times (1929, 1939, 1941, 1970, 1972, and 2011) and are known for embracing the hardworking, gritty culture of the city on the ice. Last but not least, the New England Patriots. The Pats, as we call them, have appeared in 11 Super Bowls (the most all-time, more than the Pittsburgh Steelers 8) and have won 6 of them. The greatest football coach and football player respectively had the best years of their careers in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Enough is enough. Bring Boston to the NSFL!

Talks of expansion are always extremely interesting because it signals the possibility for change in the league. Of course there are the established powerhouses in the NSFL that probably would not feel the immediate effect of new teams entering the league, but it creates potential for new dynasties to emerge and old ones to crumble, and that’s pretty exciting to think about.

As talks of expansion continue to catch fire across the league, I find myself looking at the geographical locations the NSFL currently covers. There are teams ranging from Sarasota all the way over to Orange County with a lot of available area left in between, so I started thinking what areas of the world are ready for some professional football; and it didn’t take me long to settle on Lincoln, Nebraska. Yes, I know this is not as attractive sounding as a team based in New York or Seattle, but if anyone watches college football, they know just how popular football is in this area of the country.

A team in Lincoln would be right in the middle of the United States and would provide fans who do not necessarily want to root for Chicago or Colorado a team that they can really get behind and call their own. If this expansion were to go through, all those fans of the Nebraska Cornhuskers would suddenly have a professional team to support as well. Possible names for the new team would be either the Pioneers or Bison in order to pay homage to the history of the Midwest of the United States which is full of stories of brave pioneers and adventurers venturing out to make a new life for themselves, just like this professional football team would be doing in the NSFL.

I think I've answered this question before? Maybe it was in a podcast. But I'd definitely be hard pressed not to go with a fantasy setting, based on Ugarth's lore. Why wouldn't he want to take this sport called football back to the realms of magic and men, along the Sword Coast. Some strong contenders there, obviously.

The Waterdeep Dragons (or Dragon Wards), named for the mythical dragon in their harbor, and for the legendary dragon ward which supposedly keeps dragons out of the city. Maybe the Waterdeep Griffon Riders, for their famed aerial cavalry? Lots of options for Waterdeep, and as it's one of (if not the) largest city on the sword coast, you could easily have multiple teams out of the city.

To the North, in Neverwinter, the obvious choice would be the Neverwinter Knights. Was Neverwinter famous for their Knights? Maybe not so much. But the nights there are stuff of legend, and who doesn't like a play on words?

And finally if we're just concerning ourselves with the big coastal cities, why not the Baldur's Gate Hyena? A famous city, and one of its most famous but endearing pests.

Really you couldn't go wrong with the branding in such a lush and varied world, and in an area where they've never even heard of the game, there'd be no shortage of home team players. Seemingly half the population of these great cities are adventurers, fighters and mages and rogues and scoundrels of some sort. Specimens of both great physical and mental capacity, hardened by a life of literal life and death fights. Football would probably be the least bloody sport in this sort of world.

I really liked the Royals‘ decision to start their franchise in London. Europe is probably not only a great market (no idea about that, that‘s for the guys who are better with finances than me) but also makes sure that the league can generate hundreds of millions of potential new fans that have a team to root for. So naturally I would steal the idea and locate my brand new National Simulation Football League team in Europe, or to be precise in Cologne, Germany. Let me explain why.
London already has a team in the Developmental Simulation Football League, so it would be unfair to give them another one when there is so much more room to cover. From what I read German fans are also the second-most hyped about American Football after fans from England and they have great support for their football (soccer) teams, so I‘m sure they‘d welcome an American football team with open arms. The country is also located in the middle of Europe and has good connections via plane, train and road to all its surrounding countries, which would make it easy for fans traveling from other countries to watch games there. In the long run I‘d like the league to establish a third division, something like the NFL Europe did back in the day but not as a separate league.
For the name of the new franchise, we‘re still lacking some stereotypical names like the tigers, but if you ask me we don‘t them. I would like the league to open up to new names and although the animals have absolutely no connection to the place, I just like them. So my new team will be called the Cologne Capybaras.

The Shanghai Great Walls should absolutely be the next expansion team in the National Simulation Football League. They have the best case put forward in comparison to any other team. They have the plan, desire and goal to become the next great dynasty.

The Great Walls live though their name as their entire philosophy is based on a great wall. This great wall is the offensive line which will be built as the best in the league. The greatest players will feature on this line and make it indestructible and impenetrable. But the Shanghai Great Walls will not stop there as their entire team will be constructed of offensive lineman.

And many more. It will be the strongest team of all time. It will be the greatest wall of any time and only be comparable to the Great Wall of China which is why the team is based in Shanghai and palys out of a quickly crafted temporary stadium in Wuhan.

The Chinese market will bring economic growth to the game as the Great Walls will bring guaranteed sponsorship money and opportunity for the entire league.

To summarise, then Shanghai Great Walls is a team built in the shadow of a great wall that will build one on the field.

If I were to be named an expansion GM of a team there's no doubt in my mind that I'd want my boy @Sushi Co-GMing with me and sticking by my side as he's proven to be someone who's reasonable, trustworthy and can make smart decisions when required to. He's also a super cool person and someone I'd enjoy spending time managing a team with and this attitude can bring a positive environment to our locker room.

When it comes to where it would be located, I think I'd like it to be located in Seattle. Due to the city of Seattle being acquainted with aquatic themed teams (Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Mariners, Seattle Sounders, etc.) and logos I think that the Trident would be a really dope choice, not to mention it sounds super cool. There aren't many teams located near that region so I believe that would be another beneficial factor and it would help our case when proposing said team to the NSFL Head Office. With aquatic themed colors and many designers available for us to contact regarding jersey and logo designs I believe that we'll have what we need to succeed, even if others doubt our abilities. For now I don't think either of us plan on taking on an expansion team however, but maybe someday we'll see a Seattle Trident.

I think the NSFL should definitely expand in Europe to strengthen their market there. The London Royals in the DSFL are already a huge success with millions of fans watching their games and rooting for the team. As England already got a team, I think it's time for a German team, because football is quickly rising in that country and gaining more and more fans. A team from Germany in the best football league in the world would certainly help to attract even more fans. There are many interesting choices for the city, where the expansion team could be from, but I'd probably go with a team in Berlin, as it's the capital and they don't have a really good soccer team at the moment. That could probably help to convince the people there that American football is better than the European football. For the name of the team, I prefer something that sounds dangerous, so the opponents are already afraid to face one of the toughest teams out there, so my expansion franchise would be the Berlin Butterflys and I'm sure it would help the NSFL to strengthen their position in Europe and especially in Germany and attract lots of new viewers. Although I think I’ve made a case for Havana, Cuba in the past, I think that with the DSFL’s recent expansion into Europe with the London Royals it would make a lot of sense from a marketing perspective to make an NSFL team in Europe as well. I don’t know a ton about the history of most major European cities, but I would expect that there would be a long and rich history of significant cultural events that would allow for an easy draw for a team name and mascot. I think picking Madrid, Spain would be a good choice for a new NSFL team. Madrid is only one hour difference in time zones from London, and is situated on the west side of the European continent which would make traveling for games to and from Spain a bit less taxing for all players ( though I dread the idea of taking a flight from San Jose to Madrid for a game and then having to play a game at home two days later ). The move outside of London would help to continue to expand the European market and would likely see a good crossover of DSFL and NSFL fans supporting both teams. I don’t really have a great team name idea; picking the Bulls feels too obvious and I’d hope the league would be able to be a bit more creative with it than I’ve been.

The north east region of the United States has zero representation in the NSFL and DSFL. There are currently zero teams in the New England area, which is my reasoning to add my expansion team, the Boston Armada. Massachusetts has a very storied history, and part of that storied history is in its seaports and sea craft construction. In world war 2, Massachusetts was one of the main hubs of construction of naval craft including transport ships, destroyers, and the battleship that shares the state's name. Just under 60 miles south of Boston, lies Fall River, where battleship cove lies. Inside of battleship cove rests the USS Massachusetts, USS Lionfish, a submarine, the USS Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. and a few other patrol ships. So the inspiration for a Massachusetts based team has been laid down. Massachusetts has always had a very storied history, and while many of the other teams around the league tackle Boston's patriotic or rebellious nature, I thought that it would be cool to take a look into the Naval production that Massachusetts is not really well known for. And as a Boston guy myself, I just couldn't think of any other place to put a new franchise. Well except for maybe the Nova Scotia Shit Hawks.
