One month into the NSFL season, We can get a good look at how the S2 Rookies are progressing. Lets take a look at the drafted order of the current rookie LBs
13. Kevin Cushing
21. Perry Tucker
34. Luke Washington
40. Luke Luechly
45. James Wright
59. Noah Parker
61. Luke Chunk
65. Donovan Maric
71. Steve Austin
In order to see how these rookie LBs stack up with each other, I am using a scoring system based off of this bet. The only difference being sacks are worth 3 instead of 5. So the scoring will be
1/2 point per tackle
2 points per PD
2 points per TFL
3 points per sack
5 points per turnover caused (FF/INT)
Lets look at the stats...Leaders indicated in GREEN

Lets rerank these rookie LB's based upon their point total
1. Perry Tucker
+1
2. Luke Luechly
+2
3. Donovan Maric
+5
4. Noah Parker
+2
5. James Wright
+/-
6. Luke Washington
-3
7. Luke Chunk
+/-
8. Kevin Cushing
-7
9. Steve Austin
+/-
This is not the final chapter for these rookies, however it seems that the Philadelphia Liberty's efforts to fill spots in their inaugural season has been met with at least some success. Arizona and San Jose also seem to have gotten good value for their picks, while Yellowknife is getting a disappointing return from their rookies. It's far more likely than not that there will be a lot of movement in these rankings as some players progress, stagnate, and regress.
This ranking and scoring system is obviously subjective and likely does not accurately represent the value of the stats, the players that earn them. Nor does it take into effect how the individual players are used on their respective teams.
