Known throughout the league as not the biggest fan of the media... Dom Verns reluctantly, but compliantly, makes his way from the side of the stage to the podium after practice. Dressed casually in an Otters polo and jeans he shuffles with some blank papers (for appearances) before looking up at the press and sighing

"I know this is a rare occasion but let's try and stay focused, I'll take any questions you have..."

Verns pauses and shakes his head before continuing

"...withing reason. Y'all know what can be said. Who's up?"

As a member of a military family I cannot deny that it lingers in your mind a bit. We're football players, we're focused on football, you can have the real life distractions in your mind all week - but for me as soon as that opening kick off sails - I'm all about the game. It's not a factor.

Is the slow start to the season bothering your team?

Only making us hungrier. We know what we have here, on the field and in the locker room... Coach isn't letting us lose sight of that. He's not letting us slip into the 'woe is me' mentality. We have a good squad, we have a championship quality squad, we all know it'll come together.

This is a competitive league, we're all pros here, we should know we can't make mental mistakes and give the other side the edge in an already close game. We ended up with what? 80? 90 penalty yards? That's almost the length of the field, that's a scoring change in penalties alone. We have to be smarter and we have to execute all phases.
