Raphael Delacour is used to working with kids. Over the years, he's helped out his dad, his sister, former Liberty receiver Lennox Garnett, and even movie star turned basketball star turned movie star -- yes, you read that correctly -- Babatunde Warrington with their various youth-centric endeavours. This one was different.
"So I arrive for training and Sylvia, our reception manager, says they had a letter hand-delivered for me." Raphael explains. "Naturally, I'm a bit concerned by this and ask if there was some security issue or anything, and Sylvia laughs, like 'no, no, its all fine' but I'm confused. Then she hands me the envelope and it all makes sense." Written on the envelope in bright red crayon is 'Mister Delacour', and a little picture of a jersey with number 15 on it. Turns out, it's a birthday invitation from a young fan in Boulder. "The kid, Gabrielle, was having her fifth birthday, and wanted me to come," Raphael chuckles. "Don't think I'd been to a fifth birthday party in almost twenty years at this point, but she did stress that she was my biggest fan which put me in a tough spot." Team protocol didn't cover this scenario, and there was no game on the specified date, "so I figured why not?" Raphael shrugs. "I'd go to training, shower up, and head over to Boulder. Surprise this kid. Gave her parents a call first, and started thinking about gifts for a five year old girl. Not my area of expertise." He did get a warning from Sylvia, though. "Yeah, she pointed out that if I go, other parents might expect me to in future and so on, so I'd better have a good reason. I figured I'd cross that bridge when I come to it." When Raphael pulled up to the house, signed jersey in hand -- "I went for a safe option, couldn't risk my biggest fan being disappointed with my choice of gift, could I?", he jokes -- and walked around to the back garden, where the party was taking place, he noticed a few shocked reactions from parents. "I had no idea Steven and Helen knew a professional athlete," one of the parents, Sharon, told us. "So it was all very surprising, but what a lovely day for Gabrielle." Of course, the birthday girl was ecstatic. "Daddy said I can invite whoever I want to my party," she grins, when asked why she sent the invite. "So I asked Mister Delacour." "Hey now, you can call me Raphael, we're friends aren't we?" I impersonate a programmer for a living

"Dear Rusty" the letter starts. A bit informal, I won't lie, I'd have expected a "Dear Sir" or "Breakout Player of the Year 2045" but I suppose my own name will do. "Would you please do me the honour of attending my 9th birthday?" NINTH!? Who was this child? They write like the IRS but they've signed the letter in dinosaur stickers. The letter continued on a list of accolades, listing why Rucker was their favourite player, some of their stats and even an attached photo of the kid in a Rusty Rucker Norfolk Seawolves jersey. Classic. They're clearly been a fan for quite some time. It filled me with nostalgia to read it over, Them reminiscing over their favourite games they'd watched. They were there when in the final game of the S27 seaon when I landed my 18th sack. Something to remember for sure. But wait! What was this? "I remember, Mr Rucker, even though you only played one season with Norfolk, you managed to get an amazing 94 tackles!" NINETY FOUR! I ran, frantically, to my leather bound ledger detailing all my stats written by Sicilian Monks I had commisioned. I quickly flicked through it. Season 22, Norfolk, Tackle column. I had finished that season with 95 tackles, not 94.
"Unfortunately I will be unable to attend your birthday party Timmy" I wrote "But please feel free to contact me on your 95th birthday and I will be absolutely sure to attend!" Signed, sealed, delivered. Serves you right Timmy.

Code: 186 words Wow a fan really wants Bernie Sanders at their birthday party? That's so exciting! I would absolutely go. You know Bernie used to have a show when he was the mayor of Burlington, Vermont! There was an episode where we talked to some children about drug abuse, why you shouldn't use drugs and how we should be treating people who use drugs better than we do right now, and it was all the way back in 1988! Anyway Bernie would absolutely go, and he'd definitely get the young chap a present. I'm thinking a 3 part present. 1.) Democratic Socialism shirt, signed by Bernie Sanders of course ![]() 2.) A copy of Das Kapital to learn about the history of class struggle around the world 3.) A ride on the Bernie Bus! I don't know about you guys but I think a ride on the Bernie Bus sounds awesome, plus a little tour of the place to see what it's actually like in there! I hope little Jimmy or Sally has a great birthday. You know damn well Bernie gonna be having a slice of that cake.
Through the first four games I think that not only myself but most of the league must be surprised by the success of the San Jose Sabercats. Looking at season predictions you would think they would be in a much worse spot; however, they sit at a cool 3-1. Despite the nice record there are flaws in this team that are already apparent, first off, their rushing attacking is one of the worst in the league, it is the worst statistically speaking averaging 69 yards per game. Maybe it is not as bad as I thought that number is sick, however looking at the game scores all their games through 4 weeks have only been decided by one score. The 3-1 could easily be 1-3 however that is not to discredit them at all, a victory is a victory no matter how it happens, we have seen that in S24 and S25 on their back-to-back Ultimus runs. The biggest disappointment must be Austin, these guys were arguably the favorites to win the ASFC and they sit at a lowly 1-3, it looks like they have the same case as San Jose in that their scores have all been within one score, not sure if this is over thinking of strats or just a bad case of sim luck. It is strange to see their team be almost intact and better than last season, yet they sit at the bottom half of the division. I think they can turn it around but at 1-3, and at time of writing 1-5-1 they will need a lot to go right for them to make the playoffs.
