The San Antonia Marshal’s opening game may be delayed after protests have erupted outside the stadium. Marshal’s ownership decided to reclaim statues coming down throughout the nation and erect them around the recently constructed NSFL venue in San Antonio.
Tension’s boiled over today when pro-statue demonstrators and anti-statue demonstrators started to physically assault each other. In the chaos the stadium was severely damaged and may require several months to repair.
San Antonio’s Co-GM Kevin Cushing spoke out against the violence, saying “I’m someone who believes in more monuments, not less monuments.”
Portland Pytho’s Co-GM Dan Hale spoke out against the Marshal’s actions and has said he’s proposing the NSFL change the San Antonio’s mascot from the Marshal’s to the Jim Crows.
NSFL head Josh Garden has been quoted saying “We’re closely following the terrible events unfolding in San Antonio, Texas. We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence on many sides, on many sides.”
All of this is coming when players and fans alike are struggling with some player's decision not to wear pants during the pre-game national anthem. Stay tuned for more information surrounding this breaking story.
