16. This task is exclusive to recreate/non-recreate rookies of the S33 class and later. The season is over and the draft is coming up. What do you bring to a team, and why should a team choose to take a chance on you next season?

On a surface level, the prospect Able Archer looks to be a late round option that may or may even get close to sniffing the league until maybe two or three seasons down the road. But here is the thing; while you are kind of correct that I may end up later in the draft because of my TPE and other nonsense, I assure you that a person like me in your locker room will impact you and your team for the better. I have sought to improve my activity around the league since my hiatus and from there am striving to make people know who I am again. From there, I have not forgotten my wealth of knowledge that I have obtained from many seasons ago, and I believe that I may be trusted and capable to help run a team in a War Room or with other manners such as that. But don't get me wrong, for once I hit the field; It's game over for the opponents. 

21. Now thats five seasons on the new sim. What are your thoughts? Do you think that it is better than DDSPF16?

Wow, it has already been 5 seasons on the new sim? Wow, time flies. I believe that this sim is a pretty substantial leap forward from the past, as it has a whole slew of bells and whistles that I certainly enjoy that the previous sim did not have. It looks to me like it is more engaging and has a multitude of avenues that you may go down if you want to invest yourself more into simulation football. Now I do certainly believe we had some bumps and whatsoever at the beginning, but as everything that is new, things like that will happen and we have to adapt, and we certainly did. I personally have no issues with the sim as a whole, at least as of now, and I am looking forward to seeing my numbered dot scurry around the field in search of the other team (even though the sim will still tend to sim in the worst times, but you know, its whatever. 

25. Imagine your current position was not available to be picked when you created your player. What other position would you have picked, and why?

If I had not been able to pick the position of Defensive End, because of whatever nonsense, I would have still most likely stayed on the defense as that was my goal for my future player after my first player. From there, I would have frankly been fine with choosing any other position. I would have loved to be a big boy in the trenches (Defensive Tackle) and stuff the run while stuffing random food in my face. I would have loved to be a stat wizard and do it all on the field as a Linebacker, not only stuffing the run, but sacking, picking, and being a general pain in the ass. If I would have wanted those interceptions, I would have gone for Cornerback or Safety, and be a general pain in the ass in the secondary too. Overall though, I would have most likely chosen Linebacker, but in the real world today, I am happy I chose Defense End. 

34. What are some of your player or your team's holiday traditions?

Ah yes, the best time of the year, Christmas time. Each year, since when even his dad was a child and through his parents getting married way back when, the Archer's would spend some time in a cabin in New Hampshire, where my dad was born, and spend our holiday traditions there. We go all out, such as decorating every possible square inch of our home, doing gingerbread houses and eating gingerbread men, doing senseless but still entertaining shenanigans outside, going to a nearby lake and participating in other random shenanigans, such as ice hockey or just ice skating. We also (somehow) get our hands on some water balloons and ruin someone else's day cause it is funny. We also spend plenty of time inside, telling stories, watching movies, and staying warm. That time of year remains as some of the fondest time spent at any point in the year.

Task 32. What is your team doing this holiday season to help out the community?

We in Bondi Beach love to help the local food kitchen serve meals to the needy. It is one of many things that we do throughout the year to stay connected with the local community. It is a please to volunteer our time to those less fortunate. We understand that people go through hard times and often it is through no fault of their own. During the holiday season, some people just need a warm meal and a smile to cheer them up if only for a short time. We are all one step from the ones that need help, so we as Buccaneers never take for granted our blessings. It is not always about us, and during these times, we like to help out where we can. the least we can do is offer a helping hand. We wish we could do more, but there are many that do not help at all. We want to do our part.

Task 7:
The experience in participating in the DSFL is funny enough shocking like being on an actual football team in some ways. Primarily being you get as much satisfaction out of it for as much work as you put into it. Your player (more than likely) won't go anywhere unless to put effort forth to make them better. The team chemistry builds with off field activities just as in real life with opportunities to spend time with teammates to build pride when we win and companionship when we lose. The coaches / management of the team have a profound effect on us rookies, I for one wouldn't have been able to keep up with the checks and tasks, hell wouldn't have been able to create this response if it wasn't for the absolute bastions of aid, in my case being Kotasa and bowl. Both have given me the ability and confidence to go into an environment I was admittedly not very comfortable in and transformed me from a Luchito to and Luchadore, giving a healthy contribution to the team's success. Also performing in this league has been much easier along with the help of an irl friend in Masu Chan, being able to speak to him after hours for help and clearing up any confusion, to the point where I'm now hounding him to do his tasks every week and I was helping him with the proper way to claim predictions! (After I done goofed and Kotasa had to beat me into shape.) It has been an interesting ride, when creating my safety after the position switch, to see my player who in my mind was going to a more Earl Thomas, Ed Reed type of ball hawk to more of a Troy Polamalu or Tyrann Mathieu do it all safety. I look forward to the post season success the Luchadores have in store and how much further Talen Farrens can grow.

Masu Chan, or Mason Jones, in my mind has been a hell of a surprise this season. The user, who I'm good friends with, is a Hockey die-hard through and through. He would talk to me about a sim hockey league in poor detail, me not understanding what on earth he was saying I just told him if there was a football version then I would participate. Low and behold there was such a league, but I had no idea that this guy, who wasn't well versed in football by any means, decided to participate with me. Masu is the reason I joined the league, and initially we were hoping to be offensive guys, but due to popularity we had scarce opportunities for significant playing time at the desired positions, so we were persuaded to join the defensive side of the ball, with me being a safety and Masu being a linebacker. Masu at the beginning didn't even know what a linebacker was or even what side of the ball he was on. When asked about it he thought it was more of a fullback type of postion where you would basically be behind the line and block for the QB. However once I told him how important and how much of an impact a good linebacker can have on a defense, he kind of just took off. The undrafted rookie, at the time of writing this, in 13 games has 92 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 3 forced fumbles, 4 sacks, an interception, and 10 pass deflections. If that isn't stat sheet stuffing I don't know what is, especially for a rookie. Going from not even knowing what the position entails to being a borderline linebacker of the year candidate, I think it's fair to say Mason Jones is here to slay.

The London Royals Remaining S30 Draft Class

I want to take this opportunity to discuss the remaining members of the S30 draft class for the London Royals.These players are the old guys in the locker room.  In a perfect world, these players are the ones that make sure the team operates at peak efficiency.  They are the ones that should be closing on records and really driving the culture of success in the locker room.  Let's have a look and see if they are up to snuff.  These players are (S30) - Brent Suzuki - WR, (S30) - Jack R. - RB, (S30) - Savior Hawkins - CB, (S30) - Bradley Welch - WR, (S30) - Electric Squirrel - RB, and (S30) - Ripoff CheeseBrand - S.  Of these players, Hawkins and CheeseBrand showed some interest in the league getting above the 100 TPE mark but falling off before reaching 200 TPE.  Thankfully, Welch exists and is trying to redeem this class of no shows.

Brent Suzuki - WR

Suzuki is coming in with a whopping 85 TPE.  This guy was like, "I'll try out the league but if I have to breath, I'm out."  Turns out, he isn't an Olympic diver, so he was out after 1 or so updates.  That being said, at least he updated.  Looking at his ratings, he was not really good at anything.  Tapping out at 67 speed. 65 hands, and 60 agility, this possession receiver has seen better days.  He is so bad, that he actually isn't even on the team for sims.  Good job there Suzuki, I'm sure all the kids want to grow up and be a flake like you.

Jack R - RB

Oh man, oh man. R put so much effort into the league at 50 TPE, that he could not even think of a last name.  Excellence at its best.  Fun fact, he started as a quarterback but quickly found out that being a quarterback requires effort and he couldn't have that.  Looking at his ratings, he did have 76 speed but not much anything else.  Actually, he had the minimum everything else.  Yes, speed is important but not if you drop the ball if a feather touches you.  Like Suzuki, he is not on the roster in the actual sim.

Savior Hawkins - CB

Hawkins is the first in actual decent players in the Season 30 draft class.  He has decent agility, intelligence, tackling, speed, hands, endurance, and competitiveness.  But, like the others, he is no longer with us.  At least he got some decent ratings in.  Unfortunately, this was not good enough for him to make the current team in the sim.  I wish I had more to say about him but there is nothing left to report.

Bradley Welch - WR

Welch is the man.  444 TPE, and ready to dominate.  He is super quick, agile, and has great hands.  He is the definition of a speed receiver.  He is even a deep threat in the DSFL.  All of this and surprisingly, he only got 45 receptions and 806 yards on the year.  And only 1 reception touchdown.  That is crazy to me.
That tells you right away that this offense had some issues this year.  Which is to be expected with a rookie quarter back.  He will be a great addition to his ISFL team.

Electric Squirrel - RB

Squirrel did not really work out.  An abysmal 79 TPE was earned in his life.  He wanted to be a receiving back.  It would of been great if he actually showed up.  He is pretty average across the board, for a PGA tour golfer.  His only redeeming quality is his speed at 70.  There is a good reason he doesn't see any time.

Ripoff CheeseBrand - S

Cheeseband started off hot and then dropped off.  He did make it to 187 TPE as a center fielder.  The Greek was fast and a decent tackler.  I for one, really wish that he was great.  We could of used some more defensive firepower on this team.  But alas, here we are.  Finishing at the bottom of the league at 3-10, tied for last with the Dallas Birddogs and the Bondi Beach Buccaneers.

4. “Sim gonna sim” is a popular expression in the league. Write about teams that have been graced by the sim gods and had amazing performances despite statistical odds, and/or about teams that were considered favorites but may have dealt with some bad sim luck that hampered their efforts. How much of an impact did it have on their season(s)?

If we're talking about "Sim gonna sim" we have to look no further than the Honolulu Hahalua this season. The Hahalua are coming off of their championship winning season and this season they see themselves outside of the playoffs. The team was supposed to be back in the title running after adding and improving on their roster from last season, but unfortunately with their tougher division and a lot of poor sim luck, the team could not meet their expectations of returning to the playoffs. Had the Hahalua just had a little bit of sim luck to end the season, winning 1, even maybe two of the final 5 games, the team would have definitely saw themselves in the playoffs.

Where did it go wrong? Just looking at their 5 game losing streak to end the season, you know it was a result of some poor luck. For example, in 2 of the 5 losses to end the season, they were playing against lower ranked teams the the San Jose Sabercats and the New Orleans Secondline. Both these teams have negative point differentials of -55 and -117 respectively compared to the Hahalua's +43. Despite this, Honolulu lost by 2 points and 7 points to those teams. Furthermore, in both of those games Honolulu gave up 23 and 28 points in the 2nd quarter which is 2 times as many points typically given up by the Hahalua in a quarter. Had the Hahalua won either or even both of the games, the standings would look quite different as they could have seen themselves back in the playoffs.

Looking at the game against the Sabercats in specific, Honolulu had the possession for two-thirds of the time against them. This is in addition to the 3 fumbles by San Jose and 1 loss that San Jose had, but despite all these metrics that indicate the the Hahalua should have won the game, the score did not end up that way. Additional metrics that the Hahalua team has "gotten simmed" include the fact that the Hahalua had basically twice the number of first downs and third downs, but the sim just did not want to give the team the win.

Taking a closer look at the game against the New Orleans Second Line who finished with a -117 point differential, the Hahalua were unlucky to have 2 fumbles and 1 interception compared to the Second Line's 1 fumble. In addition to that, the two teams had just as many first downs and third downs, but the Hahalua were unlucky in a sense that they converted half the amount of third downs as the New Orleans Second Line. This in addition to the unusual 28 points allowed in the 2nd quarter shows how poor Honolulu's sim luck has been. Comparing this game to their earlier game against New Orleans this season, it is clear how poor of an end of the season Honolulu had. In their first regular season game against New Orleans this season, the team won 41-7 which is a much larger margin in comparison. The team had no fumbles, no interceptions, and were able to convert basically twice as many times as they did in the unlucky second game.

I think it is pretty clear that the Hahalua were very unlucky with the sim to end the season as any amount of sim luck would have seen them in the playoffs right now. This is not to take away from the teams currently in the playoffs, but had the New York Silverbacks had as bad of sim luck as Honolulu. The team could have very well lost their 39-36 game against the Sabercats who had more time with possession. Regardless, the "sim gonna sim" and the team now has to hope the luck turns around for next season.

There are a lot of issues that are happening within Chicago right now, and Vincent Sharpei Jr. is distancing himself from those distractions. So instead of joining the team for the holiday season to help the Chicagoland community, Vincent Sharpei Jr. is going out on his own to assist the City and it’s fine people. Vincent Sharpei Jr. this holiday season has decided that he is going to be working at soup kitchens, and at homeless shelters, as well as going to the grocery store and buying out all of the goods they have, to make sure that everyone has some food for Christmas. Next, he will be going to some clothing stores and buying all their clothes as well, so people don’t freeze either. We all know how cold it can be in Chicago in the Winter time, weather and otherwise, so Vincent Sharpei Jr. wants to cover for everyone, since he loves to help out the community. Chicago might be missing him soon.

If there were any other positions I could have created, I am not really sure what I would have done. I probably would have eventually settled in on running back, as all of my players have spent a majority of their careers on the defensive side of the ball in the Big Leagues. My first player spent 3 seasons as an Offensive Lineman before the league switched to bots originally and we were all given free switches for our players. So, I think I would have probably messed around and made a running back, because who doesn’t love to be the workhorse of their team, doing all the dirty work that sometimes other members of your team just can’t take? In the end, you got to do what’s best for you, and your player, so I think a Running back would have been my final decision if not for making a Wide Receiver, and man oh man it would have been fun.

There aren’t many rules that I think I would change to the game of football. I do think that there is one that I would change though, and its not really a rule per say. I think I would change anything, it would be loyalty to your players, who have done it all for you. To go along with that, I would probably make it a more aggressive sport, because that’s what we all need in our lives. I think more aggressive Wide Receivers who go out there and lay the smack down and don’t get penalized for late hits. I want to see the Offense to be as aggressive as the defense and see that they can also put the hurt on people without getting a flag for some bullshit that the ref thought he may or may not have seen. All in all, maybe make the sport more aggressive, and reward those who are loyal. Not really a rule, but you get it.

One team that I think could use a refresh is the Chicago Butchers, and not for reasons you think. There has been a lot of animosity going on lately in the front office of the Chicago Butchers, and I think maybe a refreshment of what needs to go on is in order. Be loyal to those who have been nothing but loyal to you. Refresh the image of the front office so that players want to come and continue to play for you over and over again. Get new blood In there and stay true to your promises to them. You only get one shot, one career, and you got to make the most of it. These hoes aint loyal, you know, and sometimes that is what is needed for a refreshment. That’s why an updated logo would make the most sense to me. I like what the Butchers have going for them, but just a new, look on life for the logo would be what would be best.

The Yellowknife Community Arena desperately needs improvement, just like the team.

With Christmas only eleven days away, and with the entire roster of the Yellowknife Wraiths stuck watching the ISFL Playoffs again, the team has decided to raise funds for the Yellowknife Community Arena. It has long been at the centre of community events, hosting sports events, graduations for the few students gifted enough to make it to that point and even receptions for weddings. I guess the Yellowknife Downtown Ramada was booked that night.
The Wraiths are keen to show their appreciation for the rabid fan base, so contributing both time and money into redeveloping the Arena should go a long way to repaying the fans for their loyalty and patience, while the team looks to rebuild into an ISFL powerhouse once again.

It’s rumored that new recruit Bradley Welch will be donating a signed jersey from his time with The London Royals, which should net the fundraiser about $12.50. Other items include Buffalo Hunter’s game worn gloves(hardly used) and former Wraith, now Salamander Jay Cue Jr has donated the knife that he used to stab the team in the back with. It has since been cleaned. Rookie QB Dustin Parmalee will also be donating an item, rumored to be a date with the budding superstar. Bradley Welch is likely to outbid everyone though, so be warned.

Hopefully the money raised will be able to fund much need improvements in a myriad of areas, including the kitchen, where the cockroaches outnumber the utensils and the grease trap hasn’t been emptied since ‘98.

I am new to the league and I will talk about the S34 draft class. I will do a ranking of prospects by position. I have compiled the TPE of each player. My ranking will be using an average of the TPE/TPE of the class leader and TPE/TPE of the position leader in the class. This way player that outperforms people in their position has more value. A user that creates in a rare position has a better score.  It may not reflect the true value of each player.  This model has lots of limitations. It does not account for the quality of the user, the value of a new-gen versus the value of a recreate, the player bank, and his money-earning capacity. Furthermore, the model has only a small sample size. It will be interesting to come back to this model before the IFSL draft.

Before presenting the result, here are all the S34 Draft class by position. The snapshot was taken at 10 am EST on December 13th. We can see that the most popular positions are Lineback and Wide receiver with five players each.  The position with the highest average TPE is running back.

1. Roscoe White. Score : 100

The new-gen leads the class in TPE. They created at a position where TPE is the most important. All the other quarterbacks are recreates. Will GM prefer the sure value of a recreate?

2. Bageshwari Singh. Score : 97,75

Another quarterback. Singh is tpe away from White. He has more experience of the forum and a bigger bank account.

3. Russet Buster. Score : 97,19

The only cornerback in the top 10. The user is great and was my rookie mentor. This player should be a max earner for the duration of their career.

4. Rumble Ronson. Score : 96,62
The first running back of the list. Ronson is a recreate. RB being the position with the highest average TPE may make Ronson fall in the draft. I still believe that they will be drafted high since there is only 2 RB available.

5. Zayne Dangle. Score : 96,07

I personally know the user. I am sure that he will max earn for the duration of his playing career. He will earn his money through graphics and jobs. He is the first WR on the list. Being a new-gen he can really be the steal of the draft.

6. Louis Blondin. Score : 95,51

Me. A new-gen that will max earns for all my career. To do this I’ll do jobs and graphics. I really want my player to be the best that he can be. Louis is the first linebacker on the list.

7. Billy Stinkwater. Score : 94,90

The second WR on the list. Stinkwater is a recreate. Some general managers might prefer to draft him before Dangle since he is a recreate,

8. Erwin Kemp. Score :  93,72

Another WR in the top 10. The high number of WR in the top 10 might make them fall in the draft. The other possible scenario is that a draft train starts when the first WR is picked.

9. Solace Avenger. Score : 92,13

The first DT of the top 10. With a pretty high score. This recreate can really jump the ranking at the draft time because of the scarcity of the position. If a team really needs a DT they might reach.

10. Cross-Eriksen Score : 91,01

The first player to have a different score than their rank in the draft class. Eriksen is the only safety in the top 10. They are a recreate with a big bank. Here’s another user that can really jump in the draft.

So a new stadium in San Jose, eh? Now ideally, it would be great to have a cage with a live sabercat in it! But, they have been extinct for quite a while. So we need to find a way around it! Could we maybe get a Jaguar or something and surgically enhance its teeth to give it enormous gnashers? Seems a bit unethical, medically speaking. Hmmmm we could get a big model of a sabercat at least? Not that interesting. We could get a skeleton of a real sabercat and have it at the entrance to the stadium! Yes, perfect!
Right, what else? Catering! We could stick with the US staples of beer, peanuts, hotdogs and nachos, orrrrr we could try something different. Now, it might just be cos I’m something of a food connoisseur (ok, just a fatty, I admit it), but there’s somewhere in particular I’d like to see do the catering. Iguanas, a Mexican restaurant made famous by TVs Man v Food. And all they can sell is their 5 lb burritozilla! People can’t leave the game early when we’re getting stuffed by Berlin, as they will be too full of rice, beans, ground beef etc!
That is what San Jose need in their new stadium!!

I’m gonna need to have 2 guys in this one! I haven’t even been called up to the team yet, but there are 2 guys in particular who make it an absolute joy to drop into the LR. The guys I’m talking about, it will come as no surprise to know, are Linebacker Lawrence Bass and Defensive End Raylan Crowder. Just 2 stand-up guys, the absolute definition of Locker Room Leaders. Always there, ready to talk rubbish about football, proper football (fine, soccer), or anything else the random wheel of topics in everyone’s head falls on. They are also both outstanding when it comes to guidance for less experienced players. Crowders user, AskedMadden, was the one that recruited me for ISFL. We shared a locker room in the SHL and he has been an absolute pleasure to get to know, both over there and right here. Classically self deprecating, as only the Scots can do. And before you challenge me on this, I’m Scottish myself so I know. Just an absolute gent and a scholar. And Bass’ user, RussDrivesTheBus, was the guy that scouted me for SJS in my rookie season. Again, just an all round awesome guy. Didn’t just go down the route of ‘why would you want to play here, how active will you be etc’, but really took an interest in getting to know me. I had an IA spell from both here and SHL while I dealt with some personal stuff, but he still persuaded the management to pick me and I am eternally grateful. I honestly could not find 2 better guys to share a locker room with!

The half time show is seen as the pinnacle of the Super Bowl. The football is almost secondary to the spectacle of whoever is getting paid the big money for the ‘honour’ of performing at halftime, in front of a gazillion people, who are really just waiting to see the ridiculous ads that companies pay exorbitant fees to have on at half time. What a farce! The ISFL, as the premier league in football (no l, not the Premier League, that’s already taken) should do it’s bit to stand out from the crowd. Now, they could do this by being a bit more humble. Cut out the expensive productions, lavish dance routines, whatever the hell Katy Perrys Left Shark was doing. Get someone sat on a stool on the halfway line, doing acoustic power ballads or a jaunty folk-rock tune. Of people are bored, they’ll go buy another hotdog, so it’ll bring in additional revenue at the same time! Or, it could stand out by being over the top ridiculous! Shakira and Jennifer Lopez? Yeah that’s fine, but how about if they’re wing-walking? Or the stage is hosting a Battlebots style show around them? Yes, I will have some of that please!

Only joking, I promise, please don’t hit me with the hose again), I genuinely had several positions in mind and was really stuck between them. Through a combination of my own research, talking with guys in SHL that were also in ISFL and garnering their thoughts, and sheer blind optimism for positions I enjoyed playing in Madden, I got to CB. It actually wasn’t my automatic choice. When I first decided to create, I was leaning well towards being a kicker. Now, I’m not sure why, because I do have real world experience playing American football, in Scotland so don’t get too excited, but I was a bang average, maybe slightly below, CB and WR. Mostly cos I don’t have the size for LB, either line or TE and I can’t throw for toffee. I was also pretty shitty at kicking, although my punting wasn’t the worst on the team. But I played kicker a lot when I played Madden 07 or 08, I forget which. So I assume that was the reason for my affection for the Kicker position. The main issue I found was that each team has 1 player who both kicks and punts, so there are not that many slots and they all seemed pretty much tied up. That is essentially why I binned that idea off and went with CB. Since I joined, I have seen a few kickers come in, so I don’t regret my decision, but part of me wishes I’d stuck with my gut on it. But then I may not have ended up in SJS, which would be a tragedy.
