The Baltimore Hawks have always made it a point to improve every off-season, and despite being called “stagnant” (by players on team that has qualified for the playoffs only once, no less), this season is more of the same. Last season, the Hawks offense was absolutely explosive, with a pro-bowler at every position (including 2 at WR), as well as comeback player of the year, offensive rookie of the year, and running back of the year. Needless to say, improving there would be difficult. The defense, however, that’s a slightly different story. While their secondary was impressive throughout the season, their front 7 was lacking, with very few stars. The first step for the Hawks GM was to trade for a young LB by the name of Noah Goodson from the Arizona Outlaws. The addition of Goodson was beneficial for a number of reasons as #1 they secured a young star, and #2 it allowed Erasmo Broadway to shift to the interior defensive line, essentially addressing two needs. Next, the Hawks spent their first-round pick on quarterback (and all-around stud athlete) Austin Roenick, with the intention of moving him to linebacker. Roenick, being a team player, agreed and has excelled at his new position, recording six tackles in his first game.
