Well it's been a little more than 24 hours since I've been picked up on waivers and, as a first time professional football player, I couldn't be more excited to get to work with my fellow Luchadores teammates. Despite a slow start, I've been impressed with the talent that we have here in Tijuana, starting with our leaders: Sam Penner and Sydney Spinelli. During walk throughs yesterday as I was helping Sam Penner warm up, I could just sense the charisma that unites the team. Don't let them tell you that psychology isn't a crucial part of the game. As for Sydney...the first time I saw him I really didn't. It was more of a blur that flew past me down the sideline and I just had to connect the dots. Kids got wheels. I'd have to say the only one with a chance of catching him is one of the new guys (like me), Mandy Ross. I'm looking forward to getting to know him better--hopefully we are able to provide some of the pass-catching this team needs right now. Although we haven't spoken yet, I heard Desta Danger is newer too. He's had some hype about him too which is good, because we need some help on the defensive side of the ball. I mean, we've given up more points than our conference rivals combined. But I'm not worried, it's early in the season and from what I've heard Tijuana has a reputation for a stout defense. Don't count us out yet. ---Verso L'Alto
