Most of us know the tale of the season 2 draft class. A deep draft riddled with controversy, as it would be discovered that multiple members were actually puppets of another member. While I’m not going to go into detail for every round and every multi, I will talk about the ones in the first two rounds. There were 2 known multis, Tim Pest and Brokk Lee. Both of these multis have something in common, their position is OL, and we all know OL was a huge position of need for the whole league in the early seasons, before we outsourced that position to robots. Tim Pest was easily a top prospect and could have gone 1oa had it not been for Dermot. What happens if we remove these two players? Well first off Pest, Arizona would still go OL here but it’s the guy right after Pest, in Vincent Sharpei. Sharpei is the top offensive lineman in the draft with no Pest to be seen, so it’s an easy choice. With this the Sabercats now need a new pick, but unlike the Outlaws they go to another position of need and take Darnell Turner. After S1 CB was another position of need for most teams, as they were versatile and able to be used not only as CBs, but also at safety and KR/PR. Turner is the next best CB on the board (at the time) and is an easy choice for the team that needs a good bit. Assuming all other teams stay the same the next change in picks goes to the Hawks, who now need two replacements as Turner is off the board and Brokk Lee never existed. With these two picks they keep the mindset the same, one OL one CB, and they take Tyler Oles and Jordan Yates, helping two positions of need with two solid prospects. Oles is the 3rd CB off the board, and Yates is the 4th OL, both help solidify their respective positions on the Hawks roster and Yates proves to be an upgrade over Lee, as he isn’t a multi. The Sabercats now have a hole to fill, and they’re looking RB here, taking Ardie Savea. Savea has been a workhorse back for the Legion/Second Line, a solid presence who has been a top producer at the spot. Next the Liberty need to make their new pick, and with this they go Dustin Evans, a WR. While it isn’t the CB they’re looking for, they solidify their WR group as Evans joins Jefferson (WR at the time), and Fox North. With Jefferson eventually switching Evans comes in and creates a dangerous duo with North, but the Liberty still are weak at CB, and well everything since they’re a shell of a team right now in the draft. At 14, the Otters then take Roman Thomas, the safety who went 1 position later in the actual draft. At 15 the Yeti take Ragner Kronen, taking the Otters safety after the Otters took the Yeti safety. At 16 the Outlaws go Owen Taylor, building their DL up some more. There we go, I might write more about it in the future but this PT was getting long and I don’t need a 600 word pt, so 550 words will be fine.
