If we're looking at 'what if' scenarios, think of last season's playoffs.
First of all, we could've had an entirely different match up in the NSFC if the last game went a bit differently.
The Baltimore Hawks won every single game that they should have. Four of their seven wins came against the bottom feeders in the league. They managed to win one game against the Liberty, and two games against the Otters of all teams.
The Wraiths won 3 of the 4 "gimme" games, tying the New Orleans Second Line. Many thought this would hurt their chances at getting the second spot in the NSFC, but were able win one against the Outlaws, and one against the Otters.
The biggest thing is that the Wraiths beat the Hawks both times they played them, including the last game of the season. With just ONE win from the Hawks over the Wraiths, the playoffs would've looked a bit different.
Another big 'what if' that I noticed came in the ASFC Championship game.
Tie game. 2:22 left on the clock. Sabercats manage to break up a pass and it's now 3rd and 15 for the Otters on the Sabercats' 49 yard line.
The next play? An 18 yard bomb from Boss to Canton. This led to the Otters driving down a bit more and kicking the game winning field goal with just 34 seconds left to play.
If the Sabrecats are able to stop just that ONE pass play, or even reduce the yardage gained, that 34 yard field goal might not have happened.
Any given Sunday, right?
