@7hawk77Why is the league better off with you in it?
I guess the simple answer is that activity breeds activity. It's a tough question, because I didn't come back on the logic of doing the league a favor. I know I that I am improving the Liberty chance of winning the Ultimus. If successful, I think killing a dynasty through just outplaying them would be good for the league. After all, only 2 teams have won the Ultimus, and the first dynasty ended in poor fashion. I think good competition makes the league more fun, so there's that.
And yeah, these are VERY indirect contributions, but I'm not looking to come back as the person I was, for both good and bad. I am a player in the league, and that's kinda it. I've got a ton on my plate with PBE (more on that in a bit), so I won't be as Omni-present as I was.
Last time you were here, you berated me enough that I was very close to quitting the sim league outright. I've been burnt out and semi-active ever since.
Do better work and/or grow thicker skin. I get shit-talked daily in PBE, got cussed out last week by someone I'd never even had a legit conversation with. Sometimes it's for shit I messed up on big, sometimes it was a no-win situation that I did my best on. Yeah, it sucks. Authority and visibility have downsides. Find people who you respect, see how they feel. You and I have never been close, so if something I said rattled you that badly, there had to have been some other chords being struck.
On top of shooting the messenger on head office rulings, (which was absolutely stupid because I agreed with you on most the things you complained about, however I was OUT VOTED and had to express the head office's views to the league, not my personal views).
I don't think shooting the messenger was stupid. I've been accused of deflecting blame, and I am kinda gonna do that here, but you announced the decision, and you shut down discussion about it. Both of those actions of yours contributed to my responses to you. I didn't know that you were opposed to what you were announcing because you were professional enough not to undermine the HO you were a part of, which I can respect, BUT...
Genuinely, you can't blame me for that. I didn't make the decision and I didn't make you announce it. I have never made a member of my head office announce a decision they disagreed with, nor have I announced something I was against. The rest of HO unfairly put you in a difficult and frustrating situation. I'm not going to ask why they did it, was probably just due to you being available to type up the announcement or some other thing, but that was pretty shitty of them to put you in that position.
You also regularly shit talked me behind my back to someone I was pretty close with (John Canton).
And said a lot of the same shit to him in podcast for everyone to hear. I say what's on my mind as it comes up. Clearly, based on your complaints above, you aren't accusing me of being two-faced and pretending I supported you, or of being too timid to complain to your face. I did not approve of the quality or quantity of your work, and I said as much whenever the topic came up.
Anyways, I know you've done good work for the DSFL when you were with the marshals and keeping other users engaged, but drama seems to follow you around.
Well, I caused a lot of it and it would be foolish to pretend it won't happen again. At the moment, though, I am a friendly, contributing member of SHL and SCO, and only a complete pain in the ass in PBE. I got into sim leagues at a very unhealthy time in my life and then I was part of a league (this one) where I no longer enjoyed anything about it.
If you are getting other users active while taking fun away from others, is it really a net positive to have you involved in the league?
I can't tell you I am worthwhile to another entity (be it person or community), because that isn't up to me to decide. If a person feels I have no value to them, I expect to be ignored. If a community feels that way, I expect I'll be banned.
There are multiple valid reasons to dislike me. I had multiple valid reasons to dislike this league.
When I came back and updated, someone (I think Oles) DM'd me and asked if I was back for real, or back for good, something like that. My response to him was that I didn't know. I might not enjoy the league, after all. But what I can promise, and hope I've shown, is that I didn't come back to start shit or continue a fight. I'm genuinely giving this league another chance to show that the things that made this league unenjoyable to me have been addressed, and that there are meaningful positive changes that warrant a second chance. I would ask you, and anyone else who is less excited to have me around, to do the same for me.
