I'm going to do my best to keep this as spoiler-free as possible, but never before has D.J. Riddick struggled so much to enjoy his movie theater popcorn as he did while viewing the hit new film, 'The Quiet Place.' First of all, great film. The acting was great, the setting was captivating, the world-building did a good job of giving you as much as you needed without doing any corny voiceovers or needless exposition. But what made it such an experience, or so hard to enjoy one's popcorn...the tension. It was palpable. As one might guess, much of the movie has very little noise, hushed whispers, light footsteps, but nothing more. I've never heard a theater so quiet, so on edge, as if everyone in there was holding their breathes along with the characters on screen. This being the case, every bite of popcorn or sip of soda might have well been done next to a microphone. You'd often hear the most food-related noises during a part where more action was happening. Never the less, it was still a very enjoyable movie-going experience.
