*Season 7 Draft Review - One Season Later

Recently there are some great articles about first draft classes, but since I'm part of the latest class (at least until Wednesday - just a little heads up/ self-promotion I have an article about newest draft class in the works too, so brace for it!). No graphs though since we use articles system that promotes pumping out words instead of high-quality content.

Few words about gradings/stats I used other than standard bloopers about players and their agents.
TPE is estimated and based on update pages, so there might be inconsistencies.
Grades are very subjective and the hugely affected by draft position - you won't get 10/10 for drafting obvious candidate. They are of course grades for GMs that decided to draft that player, not grades for individual players. I've been rather aggressive and critical since already some time passed to properly evaluate made choices.
Trade value: yet again my subjective scale - 10/10 - franchise player that can lead and manage the team, 7/8 - great player, 5 - solid piece, 3 - some upside, 1 - need pick another player to even make trade plausible.
Current trajectory uses a simplified scale of HoF/All-Star/NSFL Regular/DSFL Journeyman and is more of measure of what player probably accomplishes with current temp of growth, of course he can't defy these expectations if he starts earning with much better pace - even DSFL Journeyman candidates still can end up in Hall of Fame as it's very early in their careers.
Redraft potion is my personal order of player I'd probably draft if it was happening today with the current knowledge.

#1 Howard Miller - WR - Benlongshaw
Consensus Top 1 Pick didn't disappoint, being top earner yet again (on top of having a great advantage of double dipping equipment from S6) and still would be the surefire pick to be taken #1 overall. Howard Miller had an as good rookie season as you can have with Yetis - 14 games, 590 yards, 13.1 average on 45 catches with 1 TD. The only thing that's surprising me is that BenLongshaw, despite being very active and having often great ideas is yet to pick up some league job or GM/coGM role.

#2 (via ) Verso L'Alto - TE - nunccoepi
Verso L'Alto had a great rookie season with 8 catching TD on 92 attempts for a total of 729 yards. Hawks definitely made a good move to trade up in order to get him. nunccoepi is superbly active and is often calming presence when hot topics are discussed. On top of that, he led Tijuana Luchadores to first Ultimini appearance in franchise history. A complete package as you could've asked in that draft.

#3 (via via ) Vladimir Fyodorovich - CB - majesiu
From waiver pickup to 3rd overall pick to getting dumped (and somehow ending up Otter's traitor as part of the deal) in favour of new coGM is basically a quick recap of the story for Siberian Swatter so far. He had a decent rookie season in NSFL playing out of position at safety with 49 tackles and 7 sacks, but his playoff performance was disappointing and one of the factors why Otters didn't 4-peat. I like writing about users to give better overview, but it's weird when it's about myself - so let me say that I didn't have as much time last season as in my DSFL days, but that trade definitely added fuel to the fire!

#4 (via ) Mark Grau - WR - keanex
Mark Grau was tearing it up in the DSFL representing Portland Pythons - 1213 total yards with 16.2 average and 6 TD. He should he get all possible awards for these monumental numbers. keanex is a member of awards community and have a bright career ahead of him. Without a doubt one the contenders for RoTY awards in season 8.

#5 (via ) Ryan Lefevre - LB - feve10
My S6 DSFL Co-DPOY Ryan Lefevre had decent rookie season as the linebacker in Colorodo: 41 tackles, 4 sacks, 1 Interception are great numbers. We haven't seen feve10 recently, but that's just probably deserved offseason rest.

#6 (via ) Desta Danger - CB - destadanger
80 Tackles and 1 Sack mark numbers Desta Danger numbers in his rookie NSFL season for Yetis. He has potential and made strides in improving his abilities. Similarly to feve10 destadanger took some time off recently, but at least you can check out his dangerous articles.

#7 Ryan Applehort - QB - Daybe
Ryan Applehort had a hard time in the rookie season in NSFL with just 4/21 TD to INT ratio and 47.6 passing rating, but the hardest is done and he should only climb in quarterbacks hierarchy from now on. Daybe is active and one of the best earners in this class, in addiction led by him Portland Pythons won Ultimini.

#8 Mason Brown - LB - Fire-bred
Yet another instrumental Python player in their title run was Mason Brown with 104 tackles, 11 sacks, 2 interceptions and a tackle for loss. Fire-bred is very active with his articles and has massive bank account thanks to this.

#9 Mike Miles - CB - Awkwardcowboy
Mike Miles played last season in DSFL with Coyotes having 65 tackles and 3 Interceptions. He'd probably have a chance to get called up if he didn't play for Liberty, but we should expect one more send down stint for him. AwkwardCowboy is a regular visitor on the site.

#10 (via ) Football Catcherman - WR - cpetrella
Football Catcherman was a steady presence for San Antonio Marshalls good for 683 yards and 5 TDs throughout the season. cpetrella didn't have much time post draft and haven't improved in over a month. He is playing a stacked position, so the question remains if he ever gets called up.

#11 (via ) Cole McCoy - QB - TrueTexican
Cole McCoy was second best QB in DSFL season with 72 rating and 14/15 passing rating. While very active pre and post-draft TrueTexican wasn't around for recently. Otters seem to agree that Cole McCoy might not be their QB of the future, as their GM already recreated as one.

#12 (via via ) Stone Hans - WR - Official DT
Stone Hans was one the better receivers in DSFL for Kansas City with 755 total yards and 3 TD. Official DT is semi-active at best. Similar problems as with cptrella due to playing WR.

#23 Sam Penner - QB - Pens
Sam Penner lost his starting QB job to one of the top S8 prospects Brad Pennington, once touted as top prospect in his draft stock collapsed. Pens story is one of these that should've been much brighter ones and a lesson that sometimes it's better to discuss than trying to organize contests who have biggest eggplant (shoutout to @JKortesi81).

Thank you for reading, hope it gave a nice outlook of S7 draft class and you enjoyed it, the grades were subjective but current trajectory suggests that in this draft we had the potential for:
- 2 Hall of Famers
- 5 All-Stars
- 7 Regular NSFL Players
- 12 DSFL Journeyman

Added thoughts:

So almost 50/50 split between players making an impact in the big leagues and ones destined for DSFL teams, until they are forever forgotten. What's actually comforting is that there are highly influential players, that didn't recreate, so the league has an influx of contributing members, which is very important since burnout is so common.
While now we saw some players already in NSFL, they time to shine and dominate the league for a while may come during S10-12 when most of Season 1 and 2 players will retire or recreate (hopefully) and the league may be shallow on top-tier talent for a while just when Season 7 class enters their prime. Actually, you could almost create a team on their own, because positional variety was big, not top 6 players (in redraft rankings) play the same position. We will soon have RoTY awards revealed, but I think at some point in the future among players in this draft class Howard Miller might be the one that finally wins the Most Outstanding Player award while not being the quarterback. Defensive awards will also have many contenders, but I'd love to prove a point and win one for the sake and pride of all cornerbacks around the world. There is some hope for sleepers here too, as was the case with several players that updated and improved from nowhere in the middle of the season.
