Written: Must include 200 words. Most people have a draft party for the time they get drafted. Whether you're getting drafted this season, or have already been drafted, describe what your draft party was like or will be like. Was it only family and close friends or did you go out to a bar waiting for your name to be called.
When Oles was in the draft he was still very much the same person he is today. Not really flashy, preferring to be silent but still a force, as such his draft party very much reflected that same thought process. Not very many people were there, just immediate family and a few close friends, typical of the way Oles has always liked to operate. Of course, while everyone else was drinking, anticipating, and well just having a good time, there was 1 thing on the mind of Oles, and that was where he would land and what team he would call his own. Obviously he already had some bias, as a Baltimore native the Hawks had already caught his attention, and after a stellar pre-draft interview the Liberty were also high on his list. While these were his top two destinations, each having their own reasons, the main thing was getting drafted, and where in the draft he went. Believing he was going to be a 4th rounder at the highest, Oles didn’t have high expectations, leaning on making a name for himself after the draft, back when he was still a cornerback. When the draft came, and the phone started ringing, they were still on the 2nd round, early 2nd round at that. The surprise was there for Oles as he went 12th overall to one of the two new teams on the block, the Philadelphia Liberty. Excitement fill the party as they knew where they were going next, and while it wasn’t quite the hometown team it was still an exciting place to go. (266 words)
