(S8) - PT 1 - Draft Party

I think I’ve told this story before but I guess I’ll tell it again. I’m a born hunter from northern Minnesota, it’s in my blood as it is in my father’s his brother’s and their father. It’s really something passed down through the genes ofnthe Akselsen.

So on draft night I wasn’t keeping tabs on anything. I was out with my dad and uncle hunting some elk. We felled a real big boy out there, at least seven hundred pounds. We probably had to hike it back around three times, hoping a Bear didn’t find our kill in the time in between.

I didn’t find out I had been drafted by the Wraiths until we got home after the weekend. I was really excited that I had been drafted by a small town as that was most of life. Feeling comfortable and not overwhelmed in a huge city when I was already gonna be overwhelmed as a pro was definitely a huge boost.

I remember receiving a call from the GM and just being ecstatic. We celebrated with some fresh elk steak that night. It was probably the best tasting meat I have ever had. I guess you could call that a party, I know I would.
