Now, it’s no secret that Kennedy spent a lot of Memorial Day promoting his brand new autobiography, “Not Wes Welker, But Close Enough” (with a foreword from Dermot Lavelle). The book chronicles his early days in the NSFL, including his early prospect games and time serving as the NSFL’s only active Fullback all the way up to his miracle season in S5 thanks to the usage of PEDs completely legal substances not banned by the NSFL or FDA.
Kennedy also took time away from the tour to meet with injured U.S. veterans during the weekend and thank them for their service. Despite playing football for a bunch of dirty rotten Canadians, Kennedy is an American patriot who supports the troops and refuses to watch hockey. He has been a long-time donor to charities like Wounded Warrior and wanted to use the opportunity to give back to those who gave so much to us.
There may also have been day drinking. But who are you to judge? The man wrote a book and then visited troops. Whether or not he was technically “sober” during either of these events should be completely irrelevant. Besides, it’s not like he was sober when he wrote the book, so it doesn’t make any sense for him to promote it without a few drinks in him.
