Enigmatic THAT TRULY IS AWESOME...
OK, here's this point grab
With the so called experts and every football analyst in the country predicting the Baltimore Hawks at the bottom of the barrel in this NSFL. Then the Hawks dominate with a 4-0 preseason performance that has the every sports media outlet doing a 180 and lauding praise on the Hawks. It's only natural for the Hawks to be a little skeptical of the media as the first regular season of NSFL competition prepares to kick off
You see the Hawks refused to listen to the farcical claims that their secondary was the weakest in the league. The performance by the group has been phenomenal and the pundits are truly eating crow.. Make that 'Hawk'. Yes, cornerbacks Antoine Delacour, Matthew Peterson and safeties Matt Smith and Devin Speed along with the utility wrench that is nickleback Sunday Showcase have jelled quickly together and this secondary is the top rated unit at the close of the four game undefeated Hawks preseason.
The Hawks also refused to hear that their quarterback Scrub Kyubee was at most a journeyman simply holding the title of starter until one of the more popular names was available thru waivers or via a trade. Kyubee performance throughout the preseason was that of a true franchise player and the inability of the football media to recognize that speaks volumes of the kind of stealth weapon Kyubee has been and what the "experts" truly know about Baltimore's NSFL franchise .
The Hawks understand the undefeated 4-0 preseason gets them no closer to the prize. Preseason is just that and the Hawks like all teams in this league have experimented and tested. The difference being the Hawks have done it well. But the preseason has disproven the "experts" and considering the level of skepticism and disrespect that surrounded the team immediately following the draft, the Hawks are soaring into the regular season.
The dangers ahead are ...Will the team lose focus with the ease of the preseason success? Many a preseason 'Contender' has been revealed to be a 'Pretender' when the long regular season grind takes its toll.
Will the Offensive line hold up and provide better protection thru the course of the season ? Scrub was sacked 12 times in preseason and that is a dangerous indication of a potential problem.....Will the lack of depth behind Kyubee necessitate a trade for a backup should the O line fail to keep Kyubee upright? ...Will waiver claim WR Ryan Lecavalier overtake highly touted Cooper Christmas? Remember the hype "Christmas = Touchdown" Well Christmas's lack of production this preseason is rumored to be an apparent inability to connect with his quarterback and Kyubee's reliance on targeting security blanket TE. Gabe Tenzini. Will this continue and allow Lecavalier an opportunity to become the second reciever for the Hawks ?
