Wow! The day has finally come for Jayce to hang them up. I have thought about this day a lot more than most people probably think about their player retirements and with that I have thought about writing some massive novel that I would post to give my shout outs to people.
I had recently resigned myself to think that I would not have to do so for a few more seasons, but alas things have changed recently and I find myself at a bit of a crossroads.
First, I want to give a quick apology specifically to Bovo and the rest of the NOLA gang. I was honestly expecting to give you guys at least one more season of Jayce, but between a rock and a hard place this is where I ended up. I am sure that you guys will keep on keeping on without me and it was a pleasure to win a title with you guys.
In terms of, why am I retiring, I guess this is just another sign that it was time. There was a time where I did not think I would ever log back into the site, and maybe I shouldn’t have been allowed to. Then I was going to retire several times and couldn’t bring myself to kill off Tuck. Lately, I have gotten a lot of overwhelming feedback that I should stick around and eventually recreate and for some time I was thinking that would be a good route to take. I feel like this is probably a good time step back from that and to start the beginning of the end. The Roc Nation return was started as a bit of a joke in bad taste, those involved will admit I was initially opposed, but overall I thought it would spark something interesting that might fuel some activity in the league. In all of my dealings I have been extremely careful to “stay within the lines” so to speak, but now that the lines are moving it will not be possible to do both. I still think the player agency aspect will make some interesting things happen in the league and I hope it breathes a little bit of what I took out of the NSFL back into it. I do not know how far this whole joke turned real will go, but I will ride it out and see what happens. If it dies, I currently do not plan on recreating. To those that wanted me to come back, sorry for letting you down. But hey, maybe in time I will miss this place too much and come back.
Now that the free agency stuff is out of the way, time to move onto everything else. I had a lot of fun in this league. It started as a place where I could kill some time at work and evolved into somewhere that I was able to meet some weirdos….but also a lot of really cool people as well. Unfortunately, I made some poor decisions that tainted that place for myself but more importantly many others. I could give you explanations on why I created and hid multis in the league, but honestly, I do not think it really matters. If somebody desires more details, I have written about them elsewhere and would be willing to talk them over with you on discord. What’s important is, I am sorry. I hope that at this point most of you have gathered that. There were definitely times where I may have went about it a weird way and I honestly should have been more clear about that from the start. But I recognize I screwed up and I am likely going to have those mistakes follow me around this community as long as I am a part of it. I have accepted that and that is fine. I am not asking for people to forget or even to forgive. I am hoping that those of you that are still holding on with some bitterness can let go and just enjoy this crazy place a little bit more. I am sorry for anybody that felt betrayed, anybody that felt tricked, people that felt robbed, people that were driven away from the site, and I am particularly sorry for people that spent who knows how much of their time trying to get to bottom of the Er multis. I know how bad it can suck when this place turns into a job and it was definitely not my intent to put anybody through such a massive waste of their time. I fucked up.
Any notion that this whole player agency thing is some way for me to take back power or bring down the league are completely false. I want the NSFL to succeed and I will always be pulling for you guys. While I may not always agree with the decisions of the head office, like this one, I know most of the people that have worked in those roles sacrifice their personal time for the good of the league.
I could probably ramble on for a lot longer, but I will get right into the shout outs, because those are fun and people like them. I will probably forget somebody so I apologize in advance.
@Muford Muford, Muford, Muford. I still cannot believe you got us blown up in that red zone you bastard. We have had some good times with the exception of every time you screw me over in a video game…who the heck goes AFK when they’re somebody else’s legs?! I do not think retiring is going to help me get rid of you…so I guess I will be seeing you around…in Edmonton. At some point I am going to come to Chicago and tell you how bad your ice cream is too.
@Bzerkap I think I can say with confidence that you are one of the “most good” people in this league. I am glad you were able to get yourself at least one Ultimus season before all was said and done. I am not sure there was any team more unlucky than the Wraiths. It has been a hell of a ride but you were always around to shoot the shit with. I told my girlfriend you were always like the little angel on my shoulder telling me to do the right thing. At some point I’m going to make my way out to the Southwest and you better have that tank ready.
@bo.vov.o.vo Oh Bovo, I’m probably going to say this to others but you were one of the coolest guys I met in these leagues. You were here for the right reasons and just always seemed to have fun. I’m glad I was able to share a locker room with you before hanging them up. I was also happy you were feeling crabby. I am sure I will be seeing you around. Sorry I had to sort of due you dirty with all of this retirement business. If you’re ever in the Bay Area I’ll buy the beer.
@[iamslm22] With all the multi stuff putting you through the hell and back of playing PI is definitely what I regret most. We had some good times in the past and I wish I hadn’t screwed that up. I hope that you keep trying to do what is best for the league and stay passionate.
@Dermot I never know what your username is anymore but you were somehow a voice of reason for me...imagine that. I am sorry I betrayed your trust. Thank you for forgiving me. If you ever make your way to California you better let me know. I will be knocking if I ever make it back your way so be ready....keep bulking man. Thank you for taking over the terrible situation I handed you and keeping this place afloat.
@Ballerstorm I know you’re dead but thanks for putting together something so awesome. I have had a really great 15ish months here and I am sad to say goodbye. I am sorry I let you down.
@Evok I do not really associate you with the NSFL but you have always been a great friend. I am sure I will see you in the other leagues we share, though we still have yet to share a locker room.
@[Keyg_an] We will always have Pablo’s meat to remember…don’t go retiring the entire league if I disappear for too long. I am sure I will be seeing you.
@TheWoZy You were the ultimate rival, friend, enemy, and frenemy? Thanks for always keeping me on my toes Wozy. I am glad we were able to finally break your curse. Maybe someday we can play some more League of Legends….but I will not ever get any better.
@timeconsumer I am going to be honest and say when I first met you I was not your biggest fan. Obviously that has changed and it has been a blast ever since. We have shot the shit on topics from guns to politics to dumb Orcs. I am sad I never got to share a locker room with you in this league, but I have enjoyed them in just about everyone. You are the one true DDSPF sim god and I openly admit it.
@PFTN I am sorry I never got Tuck in Orange. Luckily you guys were always competitive and I do not see that changing. I don't care what they say, you're not a snek!
@majesiu Talk about a hidden treasure. I am glad I got to see the meme side of you recently. Now lets go get you the big contract eh?
@[tlk742] Another good guy. I am glad that you are now happily married but I am still sad I was not able to snag you when you were a rookie. Luckily we have made up for it with some laughs. I am glad you have stuck it out this long. Just keep being you.
@[to12143] You were definitely an acquired taste Oles but you’re alright in my book. I am glad that I got the chance to get to you know…though you are now making me retire!
@Ben You're my favorite sim league person that I know definitely lives in the southern hemisphere. Thanks for keeping at it when you were one of the only actives in Vegas.
@[4d Chess] We had some good times back in the glory days. It sucks things had to end the way they did, but you will always be a good guy in my book…even if you made us draft Mark Strike…
@[124715] Keep your end tight man. You are one of the guys I associate with the first big draft class after the originals and you have a shot to go down as the GOAT TE.
@[adam2552] Obviously we have had our differences, but I know that you’re a good guy that cares about what is good for this place…even if you like the Eagles. Thanks for getting me out of the hole I dug myself into.
@AdamS We had some fun when you first joined the Outlaws. Your laid back attitude and Mongolian-Unibomber selfies in the LR were some of the classics.
@Aenir We never played together, but it was nice having somebody worse than me at PUBG to play with. Plus all of the Muford secrets you passed my way.
@[Anti-Hype] Another guy who has fallen victim to time. When the DSFL first started you were the most passionate guy around. If every GM was as into it as you it would have been interesting to see where the league would be at today.
@Archon You were something else man. I hope you’re well, hopefully you’ve calmed down a bit. Maybe someday you’ll rejoin us….
@AsylumParty You were always one of the most down to earth guys I had encountered in these leagues. I was sad to see you go but I hope you’re of doing better things than hanging out with us nerds. I’m sorry I put you through the ringer.
@AzhekAhriman Another one that bit the dust….you were one of the people in Yellowknife that was always super cool and you simmed us to an Ultimus. I was sad to see you go and hope you come help Bzerkap get it together again.
@Bayley You were a great prospect I was sad I couldn't draft. I am excited what the future holds for you....
@Beaver Honestly, I didn’t know you too well from my NSFL time but you are the ultimate troll and I will always bow to the master.
@Blaster My protégé! It sucked not being able to spare you from the Yeti in the S2 draft. I was stoked when you were willing to come to the Wraiths to try to chase another ring with me. Sad you went out the way you did. Hopefully you return.
@Bojo Thanks for teaching me the ropes and giving this league a place to host and upload files for so long even after you had long lost interest.
@[caltroit_red_flames] I associate you with the SHL more than here. Keep the Wraiths strong!
@[ckroyal92] Another original GM that I have a lot of respect for. You were always trying to make your team better and though you haven’t won a championship (yet!) there was a time where you built something awesome in the SJ locker room. I wish you luck in getting a ring…and of course I will be seeing you around.
@cpetrella Another SHL guy I feel like I am not saying bye to you at all!
@[Dangles13] Another one of the ultimate good guys. We had some good times in the Yellowknife locker room and you even tricked me into joining ANOTHER sim league. I feel a bit bad not knowing more about you, but here we are. I might have been retired sooner if you weren’t around.
@Daybe Sorry there was a time where I drove you away from the league. I am glad you are back and I really hope you are able to recapture the enthusiasm you had when you were a rookie trying to get drafted. I don’t think many prospects have shown that kind of passion for the NSFL.
@DeathOnReddit Wow. I cannot believe how far you’ve come. I honestly feel like I have seen a kid grow up…sort of….in the past year. We had some good times over the years, I was glad I was in your locker room.
@[Esa77] It was a freaking pleasure sharing a locker room with you. You were always insanely friendly and just an all around good guy. I am still a bit sad that Calgary never happened but who knows, there’s still time.
@enigmatic We never talked a lot but you gave the Outlaws a shot back in the day and help us win a ring. I will always admire your signature skills.
@Foompin It is pretty crazy to think you must have had your child by now! I hope you are living it up sim league free and enjoying time with your new family. Usually when somebody goes inactive I would be eager to tell them to come back, but I am hoping you never read this.
@Grapehead You gave up on the NSFL too soon my friend! It has been a blast getting to know you in the SHL and I am sad I didn’t strike up a conversation sooner in this league. Come be a GM here again!
@HalfEatenOnionBagel One of the greatest prospects I have ever had the privilege of scouting. You have got to have one of the best senses of humor on the site and I am sorry there was a time where I caused you to lose sight of the fun of this league. I am glad you stuck it out and are still around.
@HENDRIX Another one of the great GMs. Finding out you had left was a sad day. I know you went through some tough times and forged on because of the guys you had in your locker room. I can respect the hell out of that and I hope you are doing better today.
@Incitehysteria One of the most chill guys in any league. I don’t care what you say your graphics are some of the best. I hope you find a way to recapture your interest in these leagues. They are better when you’re around, even with all of the bullshit.
@[Jiggly_333] Never change man. Just keep doing your own thing. I don’t think I need to tell you that, but just in case you ever are feeling a bit down. The world is better with different types of people.
@[JKortesi81] I will always respect your IDGAF attitude. You’re one crazy bastard.
@[jparks98] Another one of the great original NSFLers. Glad to have seen you have returned. I hope you get some slightly faster internet in the near future!
@kckolbe I don’t care what anybody says, I find your passion for the league refreshing. Sure you can be opinionated and sometimes find yourself in the villain role, but deep down I think you care about this league….even if sometimes it might be too much.
@Kronen I loved your passion in trying to make something better in the league. When the head office drove you from the site it was a pretty sad day. Hopefully you return and can keep pursuing those league improvement ideas.
@loco You might be the worst trade I ever made you big bust. I still thought the robot bit was hilarious and you carried my ass in PUBG a few times. If only you hadn’t gone inactive on us.
@Molarpistols Another GM that I have nothing but respect for. You build a monster of a team and despite our friendly banter you were always super cool when things got real. Thanks for being a part of my time here. Thanks for being all about that fun.
@OBESE we’ve never talked in this league but you’re a friend so I’m giving you a shout out. You kicked my ass at chess and we went the same NFL game. That’s got to mean something right?
@PDXBaller Another guy that I will forever associate with the DSFL. I think you’re another guy that is good and simply cares about the league. Keep at it man.
@princekyle My mentor! Where have you gone that you had to leave us. I wish you had stuck around, but I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher. I hope you are doing well.
@Radsin You are new here, but I hope you give em hell. I will see you in Montreal. That is all.
@Raven Thanks for just being...nice? Not enough people do that in these parts!
@RayCobaine I am sad the Player’s Union drove you away. Depending on how long this agent thing shakes out, maybe I can realize your dream…don’t tell the head office though they might try to ban it. You’ll always be the supreme executive in my book.
@Rindiee I hope you stop buying $100 white t-shirts soon. You were a good guy and I am glad you are still around the league. Top 5 simmer assistant all time.
@Roly I am glad you returned after the burden of the simmer nearly killed you. You worked your butt of in a short stretch and I know how stressful that can be.
@Sammy Zhang I am sad you left but I hope you will have your Cal degree soon.
@Shadowz You were another guy that it was a pleasure to share the LR with. Thanks for throwing out music to listen to. Gruesome Twosome for life.
@SimmerDownBruhh I am sad you ditched us for another league. You were one of the best rivals I ever had.
@Jbearly I just remember rivals…and I nearly forgot you. I can’t believe somebody drafted you before me you bastard!
@Stormblessed You at least were good for some laughs….
@Sweetwater I am sad you were gone for awhile but I am glad you have returned. We had way too many late nights together streaming sims and shooting people (or more like dying to people) in PUBG. Keep podcasting man, we might need to do an agent interview soon….
@TheDangaZone I am glad you found your back to the NSFL. I was sad when you left. Thanks for showing me the ropes elsewhere. I think you could be an asset to any league you are a part of.
@theFlock I was sad when you disappeared. I hope your health is doing better and you found a job that you enjoy a bit more. You were a great presence in the locker room and always down to earth.
@Valtookan I hope you’re studying your butt off and going to Harvard man! Keep doing what you’re doing.
@youngcricket We had some interesting times. Here’s to hoping you’ve moved on from making those Acai bowls…thanks for the inspiration.
@[Zoone16] We had some good chats over the past year. I am glad you were willing to stick it out and work through the tough times in Vegas. I hope that you are able to get yourself a ring with NOLA this season.
It has been real everyone. Thanks for all of the laughs, mems, jokes, insults, etc.
