The light was on in front of the large stone house on Cherry Hill Drive. The sounds of children laughing and talking filled the air. As a group of children walked by the Methane Manor one stopped and stared, catching a glimpse of something moving in an upstairs window.
Quickly his mother rushed up and averted the child's gaze.
"Charlie, we don't go to that house. Do you understand me?" Panic stricken, the mother gently
shook the child by the shoulders. "We don't ever, ever go to that house. A bad man lives there.”
“But mommy, I saw something in the window. A lady.” The child stammered.
“That’s impossible honey. Only one person lives there, and it’s a man.”
“No! She had grey hair and no eyes! I saw her!”
Clearly shaken, the mother looked up at the house. There in a window on the second story of the Methane Manor, a curtain waved as if just having been let go.
“Mommy, who lives there?” The child asked.
“That’s the house of Danny Methane.” The mother replied, her steely gaze not breaking from that second floor window. “Now we need to get out of here before he comes chasing after you. Maybe this Borkus Maximus costume was a bad idea.”
No sooner had she said that than Danny Methane appeared in the doorway, wearing his complete San Jose Sabercats uniform.
“MAXIMUS!” he yelled, pointing directly at the small child. “I’M COMING FOR YOU!”
Methane broke out in a dead sprint right at the child.
Mother and child, frozen in fear, could only scream. All that remained was a pool of blood and an exploded bag of candy.
