A little over halfway now, but regardless, Benson Harris is satisfied with his individual performance. After week 10 he leads the DSFL in tackles for loss, which is very nice to see. Sacks are a more attractive stat, but a tackle for a loss is just about as good. Harris feels as though he is strong enough and quick enough but needs to work on his technique to get to the quarterback a bit more often. Two sacks is fine, considering what he is being asked to do in the Marshal’s defense, which is to play the run first then rush the passer second.
As far as the team goes, he wishes his defensive unit were doing a bit more to help out the offense. The team is scoring plenty of points, with 234 so far on the season. The real issue is that the defense has allowed 206. Sure, that is a positive differential, but it hasn’t resulted in a winning record. The team is 3-1 at home, but only 1-5 on the road. Harris’ hope is that they can tighten up a few things defensively so that the team can go on a bit of a run in the second half.
