For the NSFL's expansion, I propose that the next city to claim a team should be Des Moines, Iowa. Currently, there are teams on the coasts - West, East, and South. There's a team in Canada. The DSFL even has a team in Mexico for Christ's sake! But where are the teams in the heartland of America? Why is the Midwest so neglected for a team? An expansion team right in the middle of the country would allow accessibility for countless football-starved fans. Iowa is the perfect place for this. Why? There's nothing else to do! College teams get the attention of all Iowans, and a professional team would attract the most reliable fans in North America.
As for team branding: I present to you the Des Moines Detasselers! For those of you city folk, detassling is taking the tops (tassels) off of corn, just like this team will be taking the top off the opposing defenses! The color scheme would be green & gold, representing the corn's stalk and grain colors, with the added bonus of being the same as John Deere's color scheme. All of the greens in each league are dull and boring, spruce it up a bit with a vibrant green primary color. The logo would be a mean looking farmer in a straw hat biting the top of an ear of corn. They would play in John Deere Stadium, nicknamed "The Cornfield." Have you ever seen one of the greatest sports movies of all time, which is set in Iowa, "Field of Dreams"? If you build it, they will come, and they will be coming to Iowa yet again in S16 of the NSFL.
