The self-proclaimed greatest cornerback ever Dirk Cutter is certainly setting expectations high for himself as the NSFL enters its inaugural season.
After leading his high school to an undefeated season playing both QB and S Cutter was the most sought after Canadian and eventually committed to FSU after deciding he wanted "to get away from the damn cold." He was quickly converted to corner to take advantage of his exceptional speed and hide his sub-par tackling. Although he was a standout on the field Cutter did not perform well in the classroom and was put on academic probation his sophomore season after failing several midterms. However, that was simply a bump in the road as his grades improved entering his junior year (some hailed the tutors he worked with, most believe he was simply given the tests ahead of time). Cutter's junior year started brilliantly with 4 INTs and 2 KR TDs in FSU's first five games but was suspended the rest of the year after violating the NCAA's substance abuse policy and being charged with assault (which he claimed, "was just a bar fight, man").
Cutter provides everything a coach could want on the field but will need some help to transition to a true pro off the field (or a fall guy, whichever is easier for the team). He will look to raise his draft stock in Thurday night's All-American Bowl game.
