So, I believe that most of the players in this league came into this league with extensive football experience. For most of us, we grew up on the game. But for L'Alto the path was a little bit different. He played football all growing up but he also played other sports. And when high school rolled around and he knew that he had to devote his efforts to only one sport, he eventually chose the one where he demonstrated the most promise--basketball. This is a common path for many tight ends who, like L'Alto, are gifted with height and strong jumping skills. L'Alto played basketball for Tom Izzo at Michigan State University for several years with hopes of making the draft. He played with now legend Draymond Green, and learned all that he could, but did not end up hearing his name called on draft night. Although he floated through the league playing on practice and G-league teams for a couple of years, he eventually became discouraged. It wasn't until he was approached by an old friend, mentor, and future agent, Epictitus Milburn, that he thought to consider a change in his sport altogether. He eventually was picked up the Tijuana Luchadores and made his professional debut after not having taken a meaningful snap in over ten years. The following year he was drafted number 2 overall in the S7 NSFL draft. The rest is history.
