Let me speak about two of our season two free agents that we have had the blessing of acquiring for our Season One run. These two picks have outperformed my expectations and shaped my idea of what a player with less TPE, or a player who had started later can do. The two players I am referring to are the Arizona Outlaws very own, Tim Pest and Blaster Blade. I actually want to talk about both of these guys separately because they fall into different categories for me.
Tim Pest:
Bruh, the moment we got Tim Pest, I was excited! Myself being a Bengals fan, I know what terrible Center play looks like. Have you ever heard of Russel Bodine? Exactly. Well, he is the starting Center for the Cincinnati Bengals and he is probably bottom 2 or bottom 5 for starting Centers. The dude is not good, and even though he is young he hasn't figured it out. So when our GM: AD, told me we were getting a real Center, not a bot, I was over the moon. Tim did not disappoint, he has racked up 33 total Pancakes over the course of 11 games, some people couldn't even do that with 12. Now, Tim has allowed a great many sacks (12; most in the League) but a recent move to Right Tackle, along with more TPE should help temper this. I was completely onboard with Tim from day one and I will continue to follow his progress and hope for the best for him.
Blaster Blade:
Blaster, Blaster, Blaster. Dude, I'm just going to come out and be honest. I really wasn't expecting to get out of you as much as you have shown me. I just was always thinking, "Ok welp this kid Blaster, he'll just be decent. He will never be "that guy" like Jayce Tuck is; nah he won't be elite or even get near Sacks. He's an ok LDE but won't ever be elite." Ladies and Gentlemen, Blaster Blade has the same amount of Tackles as Tuck (38) the same amount of TFL as Tuck (14; leads the team), and 5 Sacks to his name. Blaster is a TERRIFIC Left Defensive End. Hell, it was 2 weeks ago when I learned Blade was an S2. The dude has been with us since the second Pre-Season game (at least on the stat sheet). Blaster has completely changed my mentality about players who start a little later. The dude has be critical for us on that left side, he complements Tuck incredibly. He's the reason one of the reasons our defense can do so well in the passing game as well as in the run game. It's really unfair, I really don't wanna lose this guy to the S2 draft.
Well, those are my two S2 men to watch. I hope we can get them back on the
for next season, and seasons to come.
