1) Playoff Predictions, Reviews:
Written: Give a short write up of one or multiple playoff matches. If completed before the airing of the sims, give your predictions; if it is afterwards, give a review of the game.
40 yards to start the game would generally be considered a favorable omen. Well, let's ask the Yellowknife Wraiths what Snuggles' return is worth now. Though, to be fair, the New Orleans Second Line followed it up with a 41 yard pass, ultimately resulting in no points, so I suppose sometimes it just happens. That's where their bad luck ended though. The following two New Orleans' drives ended in touchdowns - one on a pass to McCormick, and another on a pass to Jones.
Unfortunately for Yellowknife, that would spell the tone of the game for them; their only break coming on a garbage time pass to Drake of 25 yards. In desperation, however, they refused to go quietly into that goodnight, attempting an onside kick from the man that had scored them 6 points on field goals so far, Smalls. As I said, however, the tone had been set much earlier for them. The onside kick was unsuccessful, being recovered by Podolak, and simply fallen on. And while they would technically get another chance, by then, the game was over. Ultimately it all ended for Yellowknife with Bigsby having to escape the pressure and tossing it into oblivion; with it, their Ultimus dreams.
17) Sponsorships
Written: You’ve been contacted to appear in a company’s ad airing during the Ultimus. What is the ad about?
Griffin Porter is a small-time guy. That said, he's now big news locally. As a newly declared prospect for the rookie draft, heading into the DSFL, what more could he want? Well, he hadn't anticipated a sponsorship so soon, but it came knocking. Griffin was contacted by avid skydiver and potato farm extraordinaire, Billy May Gyrus. As a former stuntman, Billy G, as he's called, is no stranger to danger. That's not to say he doesn't relish the quiet, serene life of a potato farmer, though. Billy G's global potato monopoly is BIG news, and Griffin porter wants you to know about it.
"I didn't become what I am - a hulking mass of destruction - without eating my fair share of tater tots. Greens are for pansies. If you want to be a badass like myself, if you want sweet PECS LIKE ME, and-" *cuts to Griffin skydiving, eating a raw potato, and trying to speak, but spitting out potato as he shouts fruitlessly and inaudibly into the shaky camera* "...then drop that broccoli and call NOW for your free sample of ONE POTATO. Crush it up, STUFF IT IN YOUR POCKET, give it to your neighbor's dog. DON'T CARE."
Billy May Gyrus Potatoes. Get yours now, or fuck off.
We are not liable for any misuse of potatoes or potato related products
19) Team Culture
Written: What is it about your team’s culture and/or locker room that makes you happy to be there? If there are any problems, what do you think should be done to improve them?
Well, of course Griffin doesn't have a team to call his own yet, nor a locker room. But he's certainly sure of what he imagines he would want in one. Culture is a powerful word. It carries the weight of history, after all. That's what's important - history. That's not to say tradition, necessarily, as a team should never allow blind spots for the sake of continuity, but history implies experience. It implies memory, and disappointment, as well as success. They don't have to be on a grand scale, they just have to be foundational. Griffin wants something to contribute to, to build upon, to be a part of something greater.
That said, history alone means nothing. Without drive or ambition, history is just the past. But it can be the future. Griffin is here to be the future, and he wants a team willing to work towards that too. Ambition and insight are critical to success. At least, that's Griffin porter's belief. And his philosophy hasn't steered him wrong yet. Though, this is whole new game. So what if it all goes wrong? What if Griffin ends up somewhere baseless and without aim? Well, the future is in his hands, so I suppose Mr. Porter will have to lead in the direction that he wants to move.
20) Nostalgia
Written: What is your happiest memory in this league?
There's no doubt in my mind. My favorite memory of the NSFL was definitely categorized as one of the more contentious times, as well. Nonetheless, the time was spent with some of the best people I've known. Dermot, Slm, Dwyer, and Bailey were amazing at making such a tumultuous time more than bearable. It seemed like during my tenure in HO there was a new scandal every other week, but we all hung through it, taking down a few multis along the way.
I firmly believe slm in leadership positions specifically was one of the best things for this league, as I've now returned to see it in full bloom due largely to his efforts. That said, I'd like to think that the five of us working together laid a large part of that foundation, as we worked tirelessly to improve whatever we could without changing things for the worse. We tried to maintain a fun and inviting environment for everyone. We committed our time and money to ads for the league, we brainstormed ways to make it all as perfect as it could be, and in the end, I'm not really sure how much a difference we made, but I had a lot of fun nonetheless.
