That was something that I said, and the point of the show was not to label anyone "busts." In fact, we state repeatedly that we love everyone in this most recent draft and think that everyone that was drafted will do amazing things for their team. Especially in the first round, it's almost impossible to nitpick any of the picks made. I love and believe in you iStegosauruz and I apologize if I misrepresented the point that I was trying to make, and I especially want to say this is something I said and did not represent the opinion of ADwyer87, CLG Rampage, and Colabear.
That said, my point was that I viewed you as someone in this league that can and should be leading a team in the NSFL (and you've been doing a great job doing that in the DSFL so far!). That, plus I do worry about you possibly doing too much between media, DSFL GMing, and working hard to make Austin the best it can be. I made the point that I would have to be concerned as the Austin GM that I'm making an all-in move for the team for the next couple of years, especially since they aren't calling up Colt Mendoza and yes, the possibility of you leaving to be an expansion GM was a big part of it. I'm so happy to hear you enjoy being a part of the Austin Copperheads team and am excited to see what you all can do (as long as you never beat my Otters). Anyways, just wanted to drop in and clear that up, because, while we wanted to provide some level of criticism to the NSFL Draft, we all totally believe in you as a player.
Appreciate the comment man. I hadn't listened to your podcast yet when that question was broached to me. Either way though, I definitely didn't take any offense to it. I understand the logic behind being concerned in getting proper value out of a player - I think that was more the framing of the conversation having now listened to your pod than just "gem" or "bust."
As I talked about with Syl on the pod I think its an interesting value proposition. I think there's a lot of flexibility with the move and its hard to judge it too much now without any knowledge about future expansion or the results of this season for Austin. The opinion on the move can change drastically depending on if Austin wins an Ultimus this season for example.
These are all good conversations that the league should be having though. Player valuation and projections are vital to league health. The more critically teams are thinking about moves the better the moves will end up being, raising the competitive environment in the league.
