Yes player pages are locked. The thing you aren't getting is that players make mistakes, I've seen a couple times where a player fucks something up and I fix it on the player page and they still use their fucked up updates to do their next one so it becomes more off and I have to @ them and explain what happened.
You update 1 player, in PBE I update 10 a week, in SHL I did 81 in one week. Update pages aren't about making you happy, they're about providing concise information on what the updater needs to change. Anything else is clutter. That documenting doesn't generally help auditors either, it's just more distraction from what they need to check.
