Looking forwards to the end of the National Simulation Football League's regular season, there are two teams in particular that have an interesting case to make for playoff contention. The first team is the Sarasota Sailfish. Being an expansion team, it would have been expected that their first season would have seen them tank, in favour of building up a team for the future. Their decision to utilise Zack Vega at quarterback also did not inspire hope. However, due in part to the awful seasons currently not being enjoyed by the Baltimore Hawks and the Chicago Butchers, the Sailfish find themselves only one win away from clinching the third seed in the National Simulation Football Conference's playoffs.
The other team that can make a case for being a dark horse are the Philadelphia Liberty. Having not been to the playoffs since the National Simulation Football League's sixteenth season, the Liberty have built a new young core and are looking to end their painful playoff drought. However, they have a tough test ahead of them, needing to beat the conference's current one seed, the Yellowknife Wraiths, whilst hoping that the Sailfish lose to the Butchers. Overall, it is unlikely that the Liberty will sniff the playoffs this year, but if they do, they will undoubtedly be the most interesting team in the post season.
