How Norfolk can get the 2 Seed
In the DSFL, the Norfolk Seawolves have a good chance at making the playoffs. They have control of their own destiny as they are currently sitting as the 2nd seed. Tied at 6-6 with Dallas and Myrtle Beach, Norfolk currently holds tiebreakers over both teams so if they go 2-0 they can secure the playoffs but if they go 1-1 they still have a chance to make it, but they’ll need some pieces to fall in place. Norfolk plays home against Portland and away against MB which will be two tough games, but I believe Norfolk will at least be able to beat Portland. With HFA and an offense that has gotten better each week, they’ve got a solid chance to win this game. Away at MB is a tough one so the sim gods will have to be on their side. With that said, if Norfolk goes 1-1, then they still have a shot. For them to make the playoffs they’d need MB to lose to Minnesota week 12, which is an away game for MB and should be a tough game for them considering Minnesota is top of the NFC North. They’d also need Dallas to go 1-1 or worse, and with Dallas playing 2 away games against the Royals and Kansas City, this should be possible. While both those teams have a below .500 record, they’re playing at home so they have a better chance at winning.
I predict that:
Norfolk will go 1-1, beating Portland and losing to MB
Dallas will go 1-1, losing to the Royals and then beating KCC
MB will go 1-1, losing to Minnesota and then beating Norfolk
If this plays out then Norfolk will split head to head with Dallas and MB, so it moves to conference record the next tie breaker. Norfolk will have a better conference record than MB, but they’ll tie with Dallas. Therefore, Points For could determine who takes the 2nd seed. Right now, Dallas has 8 more Points For than Norfolk, but, they play 2 away games and offenses usually struggle to put up a lot of points on the road. However, it’ll be tough for Norfolk to overcome this 8 points as well because they play away against MB. All in all, I think Norfolk will secure the 2nd seed tonight with their offensive momentum overcoming the PF by Dallas.
