The New Orleans Second Line didn't have a great season. They lost games they should have won, narrowly beat teams they should have handled easily, and besides a four-game stretch in the second half of the season, they were largely unable to string together wins. Nevertheless, the Second Line are still the defending champions, and are therefore still the team to beat. The team that once struggled to put together a winning season now finds itself making regular playoff appearances, and that kind of strength from season to season is a key feature of championship-caliber teams. So, if you're asking me who I think will win the Ultimus this season, my answer should be obvious: the New Orleans Second Line.
But who will we play in the big game? This season, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if the Colorado Yeti make it to the Ultimus. The Wraiths might be the NSFC darling, but Colorado was one of two teams who actually beat them this season (if you're wondering, New Orleans was the other). The Yeti have depth and talent on their roster, and they certainly know how to win games. Many people have already written them off for various reasons, but I suspect that the Yeti will ruin a lot of predictions and surprise nearly everyone with their showing in the playoffs this season. Whoever wins, I have a feeling it will be a postseason for the ages.
