Secondly, this is a freezing cold take. You just argued that all a user has to do for 2 TPE is to say "Hey, I'm here" yet you don't want to give a user 1 TPE for saying "I want my 1 participation TPE" or something similar to that? It literally takes more effort to read the entire post of the offseason PT, where, I repeat, it was not defined that the users had to put in more effort than just saying "give teps", and then post in that thread with said "give teps", than it does for a user to type their player's last name and team's emoji in activity check thread. And it's for one less TPE.
As a matter of fact, as head updater, many users don't even follow the instructions for the AC. They simply post "Ye" or "here" or only the player name or only the player's team. The rules of the activity check specifically stipulate that a user must post both their player name and team to be eligible for the TPE. Yet I don't enforce that rule because it's ridiculous to do so. If a player posts in the AC thread I'm giving them the two TPE. There's literally no reason not to.
So in this case, why should this be any different? 1, it's less TPE. 2, it was not specifically stipulated, unlike ACs. 3. PPT (or whoever decided to not award the 1 participation idk who it actually was) made this decision just out of the blue, because it was never clearly stated in the thread. 4, it literally takes less effort to do an AC than to read enough of the PT instructions to know that posting for participation TPE would be acceptable under what the rules specifically said. I see no reason for this to be any different whatsoever.
Because it's a Point Task. Point Tasks aren't here for free TPE. Could it have been worded differently? Yes, and I think mostly everyone agrees, but that is what it is now, I have explained my take on how defined rulesets should be before in this thread. But Point Tasks are there for a reason, it doesn't matter how many TPE you get from them, they have a reason they require - and always have required, it's not like this is a new thing - a certain type of participation: Namely on topic. The amount of TPE granted doesn't change anything for me here, especially not the temperature of my take, because if this league would give out free TPE it would probably do so by saying: Here, post whatever in this thread for a free TPE.
What I am arguing here is that the difference between a AC and a PT is the prompt. And if we want to make ACs so that only people get it that follow the instructions: Ok, let's do it if that's something that's important to people, but it has been like this for ages afaik (where it doesn't matter what you post in there), same as it has been like THIS for PTs for ages. (Where it DOES matter what you post in there)
All in all this probably would’ve been an easy solution if the user went to PPT or HO who sponsored this PT and asked them about it instead of posting it like this in the Media section where - as we know - things get memed into oblivion and discussions escalate.
In the end the question we should probably ask is do we want a user that maybe thought a bit about it and wrote "I like this league because it introduced me to great friends and I learned a lot about football or kittens" get the same TPE as someone who wrote "Gimme 1 TPE for writing this" and my personal (solely personal) answer to this is no, because one of them thought about the prompt and the other didn't and we would punish the user who did.
