Long before Matt James was considered a prospect in the league, a man named Jack Durden was playing for the Arizona Outlaws. As you know, Matt James leaked Locker Room and Private Messages to the media in an attempt to receive a ludicrous rookie contract.
During the middle of Season One, Jack Durden was disgruntled, and rightfully so. He was drafted onto a team that ran the ball by committee. He was teamed up with First Rounder, Reg Mackworthy, and Third String Micheal Newman. In an attempt to run the ball extremely well with fresh running backs waiting on the sideline, Durden had other plans. He wanted to glory, the carries, and the touchdowns. He lit it up in his teams locker room, calling out many players, as well as the coaches, stating he should be getting the ball more than Reg, even though his stats were slightly worse. He felt that in one game where he was able to produce more than Reg, that he was entitled to the increase in touches. While Reg had more Yards Per Carry with less rushes than Durden, some were confused as to where the complaints were directed. The touches were already given to him, but he couldn't produce well enough. Teammates voiced their displeasure, and arguments were had.
Durden released exact quotes to the media, while leaving the player anonymous shortly there after. The league was in frenzy, and the media, as well as personnel from other teams began to question if the Outlaws were imploding. While Durden was the only one to voice his displeasure to the media, his behavior did allow other players to act up in the locker room, stirring up a lot of the personnel in Arizona. These events lead to a lot of key players being traded, most of whom had very serious attitude/commitment issues.
