Training camp for the San Jose Sabercats was a walk in the park to be honest. It is way too hot this time of year to be outdoors in San Jose, so we traveled to Colorado Springs, Colorado to retreat from the heat and use the altitude as an additional conditioning tool. Cheeks and the rest of the defense were excited for a hopefully improvement from last season with some new blood to help bolster the front and back end of the unit. Cheeks was able to use the camp to continue to learn from Larry Bass, the aging star of the linebacking corp. I would expect the team to continue to run both 3-4 and 4-3 looks this season, with more of an emphasis on 4-3 now that they were able to receive some help in the way of former quarterback prospect, Red Arrow, moving over to Defensive End. The man was following in old meatball’s footsteps as he had to put on over 50 pounds this offseason in order to be a proper pass rushing mate to Rayland Crowder. As for the offense, expect them to really air the ball out this season as they were running more spread looks and Monty Jack looked better than ever with an open offensive scheme.
