Saleem Spence reported a day early for camp in order to get mentally prepared for the traditional two a day practises that make up the bulk of the camps. Also reporting in was Michael Witheblock, who needed to get a leg up on his transition from Wide Receiver to Middle Linebacker, as well as Joseph Radetzky and Tre'Darius J'Vathon, who didn't want the prized rookie to get a leg up on them in the battle for Wide Receiver spots.
Spence worked hard on the tire drills, and was busy catching passes from anyone, Mike Boss Jr., former DSFL quarterback LeBron James III, JUGGS machines, the works. He worked on breaking tackles against members of the Sarasota secondary, trying to maximize his yards after catch ability, and also did some long distance running in the mountains to improve his stamina to minimum ISFL standards.
Spence got enough benefit from the camp that it seems he's being used as the team's 2nd receiver, if his stunning debut three touchdown debut against the Colorado Yeti is any indication. Sarasota's offensive staff was impressed enough with Spence's progression that they tried to scheme up some endaround runs and jet sweeps, to take advantage of Spence's physicality. However, the AI robot coach of Sarasota, ZBot Frost SarasotaCoach1, ultimately nixed these and other creative plays when preseason hit, which is still a bone of contention between some players and the coaching staff. Ultimately it'll be slants, curls, and running plays from Sarasota and 13 other ISFL teams for Season 29........
