After a long training camp from transitioning as a defensive end in Portland as a waiver pickup to a cornerback in Kansas City, Jason Garciaparra proved himself as quite the asset across the field on multiple levels of the defense as well as special teams. There was a brief period where Garciaparra was splitting time between minor league baseball and DSFL training which helped him cut down on his weight for the position switch as well as train for better speed across the board. He managed to find a place in the secondary before the coaches asked him to challenge fellow Kansas City cornerback, Siege Cameron, in the return game as well. With his speed, Garciaparra was able to quickly cement himself as a member of the return team which has given the Coyotes a three-pronged attack when it comes to special teams. The training camp proved necessary for Garciaparra as he found other ways to help the team as a safety when it comes down to it so his positional versatility has only grown which has earned him a bit of respect among the coaches as well as some friendly competition between his teammates. While not an outspoken leader, Garciaparra came away from training camp wanting to prove he can still be an asset to his teammates.
