I’d like to take most of this time to talk about a team down on its luck a bit right now. Taking a look at the weekly results, you’d be hard pressed to find a team that has gotten the short end of the stick more than Honolulu Hahalua. Week 1 saw a great battle between the Hawaiian team and the Austin Copperheads. Unfortunately, Honolulu came up short on 4th and 2 at the Austin 38. While that game was a slugfest, weeks 2 and 3 were just the opposite, as Orange County and Arizona beat Honolulu by a combined score of 75-28. Despite the rough start to the season, the Hahalua battled the Yeti to overtime. Although they had the ball 1st and 10 at the 29 yard line, 2 penalties and 2 sacks later the Yeti win the game on a safety! Talk about self destruction. The following week, Honolulu fought the Silverbacks to the wire. After scoring a late touchdown and getting the two point conversation, Honolulu got the ball back but were unable work their way into field goal range despite moving the ball all the way to midfield with 48 seconds left. Sure they’ve gotten beaten down a few times this year, but Honolulu is better than 0-5 and will certainly end up upsetting some teams down the stretch who have dreams of playoff grandeur. For a team who has overachieved? Let’s go with Arizona. 3 of its 5 wins are by a combined 10 points. They’re a lot closer to the ret of the league than its record indicates.
